Raising funds, or thinking about it? Big weeks ahead for founders in the region. Gulfood - The World's Biggest F&B Event, Step Conference, Dubai FinTech Summit, Seamless Middle East, and more. Think of these events as compressed ecosystems: investors, strategic partners, and early adopters, all in one place. One rule to remember: meeting investors isn’t visibility, it’s value exchange. So, here’s how to make it count: 1. Be clear on the value: Don’t just say “fundraising.” Are you after distribution, pilots, strategic partnerships, or advisory? Define it. Structure your outreach around it so your ask becomes smarter, not broader. 2. Hunt high-leverage moments Roundtables, panels, post-panel lounges, etc. This is where real conversations happen. Show up early and stay intentional. The best meetings aren’t always the ones on your schedule; they’re often the ones you manufacture. 3. Bring more than slides One-minute demo, short video, metrics snapshot. If you can’t explain it in 60 seconds while walking, the conversation ends. 4. Use conversation as currency Ask strategic questions, not transactional ones. Good questions stick longer than polished pitches. 5. Do your homework - Most events now offer matchmaking tools. Use them well. - Tag and prioritise investors by alignment, not familiarity. - Send 2–3 targeted notes pre-event. - Every conversation can turn into a meeting (don’t leave it to luck). 6. Convert momentum into micro-commitments A good outcome isn’t “great conversations.” Follow-ups, pilots, diligence started- that’s what matters. Measure events by commitments, not impressions. Wishing founders the very best for the weeks ahead. And to investors: a few intentional minutes can make a meaningful difference.
