A few statistics that are worth reflecting on: • 27% of Canadians aged 15 and older (8 million people) live with at least one disability that impacts their daily activities. • More than 3.1 million Canadians live with a mobility disability, representing 10.6% of Canadians aged 15 and older. No Step Is Too Small July is Disability Pride Month. A good time to ask a simple question: what counts as progress? For a lot of families, progress isn’t a finish line. It’s a Tuesday. It’s a kiddo shifting their weight for the first time. It’s standing tall enough to look a sibling in the eye. It’s one step, then another, on their own terms, in their own home. We talk a lot about walking. But what we do is about more than the steps taken. It’s about choice. It’s about a kiddo getting to decide how they move through the world, instead of the world deciding for them. Accessibility doesn’t start with a ramp or a policy. It starts with believing that everyone deserves the same access to things. Everyone deserves a world and systems that makes them feel seen. This month, and every month, we’re proud to stand with the disability community pushing for a world built around access. No step is too small. Every single one counts.
