I have no next-big-thing planned beyond fixing fences and tractors, fixing and riding motorcycles, and being home in the afternoons. It has been a totally great ~4+ years but the job started during the pandemic when everybody WFH'd and I had no grandchildren. Operating conditions always evolve.

James Hatheway liked thisJames Hatheway liked thisIn March 2013 I was on a miserable contract with a failing company and some staff that I found challenging to work with. I don't know if there was a "right fit" for that organization but it certainly wasn't me. So I found a new company through a referral and tried to find an agreeable exit. The agreeable exit wasn't needed as with the week the previous company got acquired in a fire sale and laid off 20 of 35 staff. I was actually one of the 15 they kept until they could complete the sale. The place I was going? A little 20 person start in SF called Lyft where I'd build out a lot of Lyft's initial infrastructure. I'd go on to have a lot more success. I've always given my best I have discovered I'm someone who excels in some environments and does poorly in others... it's my responsibility to identify those opportunities where I will excel and seek them out.
