Kendra Dias reposted thisThis past Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the final project presentations for the Industry Sponsored Student Project (ISSP) at British Columbia Institute of Technology, showcasing the work of students from their Software Systems Developer (SSD) program. As a participating company in the ISSP, we tasked the BCIT SSD students with integrating Docusign forms with our internal systems, and they delivered impressive results. Other showcased projects included an educational game platform, a healthcare solution, and a mobile app for a loyalty program, amongst others. The students demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt, quickly learning new languages and techniques to tackle these challenges while also addressing crucial real-world factors like scalability, data privacy, and integrity. Congratulations to all the Software Systems Developer students for their hard work and innovative solutions! A big thank you to BCIT staff (Craig Watson and Joshua Solomon) for this incredible opportunity through the ISSP. Reflecting on an incredibly insightful and jam packed week immersed in Vancouver's vibrant tech scene. The events may be over, but the momentum they've generated truly marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us 🚀. It was a privilege to connect with so many brilliant minds at BSides Vancouver, the visionary Vancouver Cloud Summit held at the stunning Orpheum Theatre, and the inspiring Web Summit Vancouver 2025, which brought together over 15,000 passionate individuals from across the globe. Beyond the fantastic presentations and networking, these events provided an invaluable crucible for validating what we're building at WickedBot. The conversations were rich and varied, spanning designers, developers, seasoned security professionals, and forward-thinking business owners. And one message resonated with crystal clarity: the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is often incredibly siloed and inefficient, yet widely accepted in its current state. It's fascinating – while technologies have evolved at exponential speed, the fundamental process of how we build software has lagged. This realization hasn't just confirmed our hypothesis; it has infused our team with an incredible energy and an even stronger drive to continue our mission: to fundamentally improve this siloed cycle and augment the SDLC with the latest technologies, leveraging intelligent AI agents and collaborative workspaces. What's also incredibly encouraging is the fundamental shift in mindset. The awareness around Secure DevOps, from both the developers in the trenches and the business leaders at the helm, is higher than ever. Operating securely is no longer a feature but a foundational requirement. This is precisely why, at WickedBot, we're embedding security into the very DNA of the software development lifecycle. Our goal isn't just to provide a secure platform for our customers, but to empower them to develop hardened, resilient software right from the get-go. A massive thank you to everyone who has already generously shared their time and insights with us, whether through our user focus groups or in person at these events.
