Nira fled war-torn Sudan and found safety in Kenya. The meaning of safety is different for each of us. But the right to seek it belongs to all of us.

Martin carried this bag when he fled violence in DR Congo. Now he's carrying it home. Life in the Busuma refugee camp in Burundi is harsh, as people can't even meet their basic needs. 54,000 Congolese refugees who remain there need urgent support. Burundi has opened its doors to tens of thousands of Congolese refugees. But resources are stretched so thin many are being forced to make a choice: safety or survival. Our colleague Emery is Burundian. Every day, he works with refugees in Busuma camp, where families who fled violence are struggling to access basic necessities like shelter, food, clean water and healthcare. Burundi has shown remarkable solidarity to their neighbours, but the country cannot shoulder this responsibility alone. They urgently need the world's support now. We need to step up as a global community to ensure refugees can live not only in safety, but also in dignity.

Public support for refugees remains high despite years of political turbulence, socio-economic pressures in host countries and polarizing migration debates, according to a new global survey from Ipsos released with UNHCR.

What does hope look like? In Rwanda, it looks like a mother growing a business that supports her family. A daughter who once fled as a child now studying at Oxford. Refugees creating jobs, supporting one another and building brighter futures. Hope is what happens when refugees are given the opportunity to learn, work and thrive. On this #DayofHope, we're celebrating what becomes possible when inclusion transforms hope into dignity.

The earthquakes in Venezuela didn't just destroy buildings. They cut off electricity, water, and access to hospitals and schools. Thousands are sleeping in stadiums, transitional sites or with close friends, afraid to return home. UNHCR is on the ground.
