From 13 years to 4 hours. From 3 billion dollars per genome to a few hundred. From a once-in-a-generation discovery to real-time genomic insights. The pace of innovation in genomics is truly inspiring. Today, I am excited to share that Roche - together with Broad Clinical Labs and Boston Children's Hospital - has set a new Guinness World Records for the fastest DNA sequencing technique. In under four hours, our teams managed to sequence a whole human genome, surpassing the remarkable 5-hour-2-minute benchmark set by the brilliant minds at Stanford University I was just visiting their campus and the spirit I felt there clearly drives all of us in this field. At the heart of this success: our SBX (Sequencing by Expansion) technology. I vividly remember a few years ago, in 2020, while leading our Diagnostics Division, our team saw its unique potential and decided to bring Stratos Genomics - the pioneers behind SBX - into the Roche family. To see that belief turned into a world record is incredibly rewarding - and a testament to the vision and dedication of many people. I look forward to when we launch this revolutionary technology next year. A huge congratulations to all of you!
