Sidsel Marie Kristensen shared thisOne of the highest-return investments in fragile states does not involve roads, ports, or security forces. It involves children. We know from research that the earliest years of life shape so much of what comes next. Evidence tells us that when children have opportunities to learn and build supportive relationships, they can continue to grow, develop and thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances. David Miliband and I have written about why early learning should be at the centre of how we invest in children living through conflict and crisis. Last month, The LEGO Foundation and the International Rescue Committee announced a $97 million commitment to expand playful learning opportunities for children affected by conflict and displacement across East Africa and the Middle East. This is about more than education. It is about ensuring that children have the chance to learn, build confidence, develop resilience and imagine a future. Every child deserves that opportunity. Because a child's future should not be determined by conflict. Yet today, millions of children are growing up in places affected by conflict and crisis. For many, opportunities to learn are disrupted, spaces to play become harder to access, and childhood becomes harder than it should be. Sidsel Marie Kristensen shared thisMange af de samtaler, jeg har haft på Folkemødet de seneste dage, har kredset om det samme spørgsmål: Hvordan skaber vi bedre muligheder for børn og unge i en tid præget af store forandringer? Jeg har deltaget i debatter om trivsel, kultur, filantropi, investeringer og global udvikling. Selvom emnerne var forskellige, pegede diskussionerne igen og igen på den samme erkendelse: De udfordringer, børn og unge står overfor i dag, er for komplekse til, at én organisation eller sektor kan løse dem alene. Det gælder, når vi taler om børn og unges trivsel. Det gælder, når vi diskuterer fremtidens udviklingssamarbejde. Og det gælder, når vi ser på, hvordan forskellige former for kapital kan bidrage til positive forandringer. Derfor er jeg mere overbevist end nogensinde om værdien af partnerskaber. Når fonde, virksomheder, civilsamfund, forskningsmiljøer og offentlige aktører bringer forskellige styrker sammen, kan vi skabe løsninger, der både når længere og holder længere. Tak til meddebattører for gode samtaler, nye perspektiver og fælles ambitioner på børns vegne. Jeg tager både inspiration, udfordringer og nye idéer med hjem fra Bornholm – og ser frem til at fortsætte samarbejdet om at skabe bedre muligheder for alle børn.

Sidsel Marie Kristensen shared thisFolkemødet handler om samtaler. Men måske endnu vigtigere handler det om relationer. I går havde The LEGO Foundation fornøjelsen af at samle samarbejdspartnere, kolleger og venner til en fælles reception med the LEGO Group og Ole Kirk's Fond. Det blev en anledning til både at markere LEGO Fondens 40-års jubilæum og til at se fremad. For selvom verden omkring os forandrer sig hurtigt, er én ting uændret: Børn har brug for stærke fællesskaber og voksne, der arbejder sammen om at skabe de bedste muligheder for læring, udvikling og trivsel. Det gælder i Danmark og globalt. Ingen af os kan løfte den opgave alene. Derfor betyder partnerskaber mere end nogensinde. Når fonde, virksomheder, civilsamfund, forskningsmiljøer og offentlige aktører bringer forskellige perspektiver og styrker sammen, kan vi skabe forandringer, der rækker længere end det enkelte projekt. Tak til alle, der lagde vejen forbi. Jeg ser frem til de mange samtaler og samarbejder, der fortsætter efter Folkemødet.

Sidsel Marie Kristensen shared thisChildren living through conflict and crisis cannot put their childhood on hold. Even in the hardest circumstances, children still need opportunities to learn, play, build relationships, and feel a sense of safety and belonging. Those moments matter far more than we sometimes recognise - especially in the earliest years of life. That is why I’m excited that The LEGO Foundation is renewing and expanding our partnership with the International Rescue Committee through a new USD 97 million, five-year commitment focused on children across East Africa and the Middle East. Since 2019, together we have reached more than 7 million children through playful learning approaches in crisis and conflict settings. What encourages me most about this next phase is the focus on long-term systems change - working with existing services and local partners so support for children can continue and grow over time. We need to do more to prioritise children not only in recovery efforts, but from the very beginning of a crisis. I’m grateful to everyone across the IRC and the LEGO Foundation who continues to drive this work forward together. Ingrid brings deep experience across philanthropy, education and non-profit leadership, alongside a strong belief in the power of partnerships to create positive change for children. Throughout her career, she has combined strategic leadership with a genuine commitment to children’s learning and wellbeing. She has also played an important role in strengthening Montessori education in Norway, helping shape learning environments where children can learn, explore and build confidence through everyday experiences. At the LEGO Foundation, we work closely with partners around the world to support children’s learning, play and wellbeing. Ingrid’s experience, perspective and values-driven leadership will be an important contribution to our work in the years ahead. I’m looking forward to the conversations, perspectives and collaboration ahead.

Sidsel Marie Kristensen shared thisChildren living through conflict and crisis cannot build their futures on short-term funding cycles alone. That is why I’m excited about our new partnership with Co-Impact. Over the next five years, we will work together in Kenya and Nigeria to support children by strengthening public systems and locally rooted organisations already leading change in their communities. But for me, this partnership is also about something bigger. If we are serious about helping children learn, thrive and experience the childhood they deserve, we need more funders and partners who are willing to move beyond fragmented efforts and invest together for the long term. No single organisation can create lasting change alone. Real progress depends on shared responsibility, aligned funding and trust-based collaboration across philanthropy, governments and communities. I hope this partnership can help encourage more collective action for children affected by conflict and crisis. What would it take for more of us to align around long-term change for children affected by conflict and crisis?

Through a deeply values-driven and long-term approach, he has helped strengthen the LEGO Foundation’s global partnerships, ambition, and impact for children around the world. At a time when too many children are growing up in uncertainty, the Foundation’s commitment to childhood, learning and wellbeing is more important than ever. I look forward to this next chapter and to continuing our shared work with partners across the world to support children and their futures.

The award recognises women who are driving meaningful change in education – expanding access to opportunity and helping shape a more inclusive future. Across contexts and disciplines, women are stepping into leadership with clarity, resilience and purpose. Together, they are building more inclusive and responsive education systems – often while navigating barriers that still limit equal access to leadership. At The LEGO Foundation, we see the impact of this leadership every day. When diverse perspectives are part of decision-making, it leads to stronger, more inclusive approaches to learning and development. Supporting women in leadership is not separate from our mission – it is part of how we work with partners to strengthen the systems that education depends on. I am proud to stand alongside this year’s recipients and to be part of a community of women leading change in education.

Thank you for the great company, the many laughs, and the great discussions along the way. For me, these visits are about so much more than seeing our locations. They’re about meeting people. Having the opportunity to welcome new colleagues on behalf of the LEGO Group, listen to their questions, ideas, ambitions, and concerns, and learn from their experiences. Today marked visit number 23! Every centre has its own personality, every market has its own dynamics, and every team has something to teach me. But the real highlight came afterwards, when the Minister – Pat McFadden MP – met some of our brilliant young team members inside SEA LIFE London Aquarium and on the London Eye: ★ Elliot and Harriet, who are developing specialist skills as aquarists at SEA LIFE London Aquarium. ★ Immie and George, whose summer jobs at Alton Towers have grown into long-term careers with Merlin. ★ Jess and Jack, who help bring unforgettable stories to life at the London Dungeon. ★ Sarah, Holly and Rachel, who create memorable experiences for millions of guests on the London Eye. Each of them spoke with real passion about what they do – and the opportunities they’ve been given to learn, grow and progress. Their stories are exactly why this matters. At Merlin, we've long believed in the power of those first opportunities to build confidence, develop skills and start a career. That's why we're proud to support the Government's Youth Guarantee by committing to create 300 roles for young people over the next three years. As we deliver on that commitment, we'll work closely with our partners and suppliers to open up even more pathways into employment across our attractions, helping more young people take their first step into the world of work. Geopolitikken med blandt andet krig i Ukraine og i Mellemøsten skaber stor usikkerhed, der er masser af støj, tempoet bliver ved med at stige, og beslutninger skal træffes hurtigere. Det er nok årsagen til, at vi generelt i samfundet har en tendens til at fokusere på alt det, der kan gå galt. Det negative. Men jeg insisterer grundlæggende på at være optimist og se muligheder og lyst på fremtiden. Ikke fordi udfordringerne er små. Tværtimod. Og ikke fordi vi skal være naive. Tværtimod. Men fordi det er helt essentielt og enormt vigtigt for at kunne løse de udfordringer, vi står med, at vi har en optimistisk tilgang til, hvordan vi finder løsninger. Vi skal se positivt på mulighederne og være opmærksomme på fælderne … det er for mig optimisme og forudsætningen for at finde gode løsninger. Når det gælder Europa, siger vi lige nu mange af de rigtige ord om sikkerhed, konkurrencekraft og energi. Det er godt. Men vi har brug for færre ord og mere handling. For mulighederne er der allerede. Vi har virksomhederne. Vi har kompetencerne. Vi har kapitalen. Og vi har vist, at Europa kan stå sammen, når det virkelig gælder. Det samme gælder på andre områder. Om det handler om mistrivsel blandt børn og unge eller om at skabe økonomisk tryghed i en mere uforudsigelig og turbulent verden. Der er store udfordringer ja, men jeg tror på, vi kan løse dem. I PFA vil vi gøre vores, når det f.eks. kommer til at investere 500 mia. kr. i Europa og blive ved med at styrke vores arbejde med at hjælpe familier i mistrivsel. For optimisme er ikke at lukke øjnene for problemerne. Optimisme er at tro på, at de kan løses – og derefter gøre noget ved dem. I Børsen og Sofie Kragh serie "Set fra min stol" deler jeg mine tanker om den geopolitisk usikkerhed, om mistrivsel blandt børn og unge, om vigtigheden af at være transparent, og hvorfor jeg fortsat grundlæggende er en optimist, der tror mere på mulighederne end på begrænsningerne. Og hvilken rolle vi i PFA spiller. For det er ikke mangel på muligheder, der holder os tilbage her i Europa. Det er vores evne til at omsætte dem til handling. Their days are long, physically demanding, and when access to energy is unreliable, every part of that work becomes harder. During my visit to Pune, I met women changing that reality through the Powering Livelihoods Initiative, led by Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and Villgro with support from the IKEA Foundation. Using renewable energy, they’re drying and preserving fruits, vegetables, spices and flowers after harvest. That means less food goes to waste, produce lasts longer, and women have the freedom to decide when to sell instead of having to sell immediately. A seemingly simple change like that can make a real difference to a family’s income. This is why I believe climate action has to start with people’s everyday lives. The most effective solutions don’t ask people to choose between improving their livelihoods and protecting the planet; they do both. That’s why we evolved the IKEA Foundation’s strategy to focus on fighting global warming with and for the many people. Through partners like CEEW and Villgro, we’re helping practical climate solutions reach more communities, creating opportunities that are good for people and the planet. 👉 As of April 2026, through Powering Livelihoods-supported enterprises, more than 46,000 livelihoods across India have been positively impacted, with almost 45% of beneficiaries being women. 🇸🇪 ➡️ 🇺🇸 Emails ≠ Emails In Sweden, it may be reasonable to take some comfort in emails when a contract is silent on a particular issue. Why? Swedish contract interpretation, generally speaking, focuses on the parties’ common intent (i.e., the meeting of the minds). As such, in a contractual dispute, courts may look beyond the written agreement to pre-contractual negotiations, subsequent conduct, and written correspondence (e.g., emails), to clarify what was actually agreed. In the U.S., comforting oneself that emails can be used to fill gaps in an agreement is often a failed strategy. Many U.S. states apply strict “four corners” of the contract rules meaning: → Emails are generally excluded as forming part of a contract → Courts assume important or adverse terms should have been negotiated and written into the contract And culturally, U.S. companies are loathe to deviate from clear written terms to their own disadvantage. The prevailing view is that if you didn’t negotiate for a term and have the term expressly incorporated into the contract, the term generally does not apply. If it matters in a U.S. deal, put it in the contract. Otherwise, assume it doesn’t exist.
