Very moved by this award that is a great testament to the passion and commitment of our international and diverse team (27 nationalities!) to unlock the bottlenecks on the way to industrialising fusion energy. A big thank you to the jury for their support and to participants for their enthusiasm about the great challenges (no pun intended) that we are addressing with our technologies. Fast forward to today, we are beyond excited to announce our partnership with FusionX Group to co-host the first edition of FusionX:Europe. The timing could not be more strategic: with Grenoble holding the title of European Capital of Innovation and the European Commission set to announce the first EU Fusion Strategy after the summer, this back-to-school summit is the perfect moment to discuss how Europe can turn scientific and tech excellence into industrial leadership. From powering AI data centers to manufacturing enabling technologies at scale, the event will cover everything from engineering to financing. It will not be just talk of course: we will also organise exclusive visits to Renaissance Fusion's facilities to showcase our latest achievements in HTS production and liquid metal solutions. Rendez-vous at CEA's Maison Minatec at on Sept 24. Excited to work with Sam, Stuart, Nicholas, Elsie, Claudio, Marine, Chloé, Giorgio on this event with the valuable support of Nicolas, William, Céline, Amélie and others along the way!

Agata C. Hidalgo heeft dit gedeeldWhat do a fusion energy scaleup, a rocket launch company and a semicon research center have in common? They are all developing the infrastructure of the future internet. From power for chips to satellite connectivity for devices, Europe needs to affirm its role not just as a user of these technologies, but also as a key player. This was a fundamental piece of the EuroDIG - European Dialogue on Internet Governance in Brussels last week, where I had the chance to share the stage with Francesc (PLD Space) and Jo (imec). In the discussion skillfully moderated by Merle, it became clear that we have much more in common: high capex, the challenge to raise funds in Europe, the need for private-public partnerships and investment to ensure these essential infrastructures are not only designed but also built in Europe. This is what drives us at Renaissance Fusion: we are tirelessly working to make fusion devices manufacturable at scale to answer the growing demand of energy from the digital sector- sustainably. Energy security is within reach—if we move beyond short‑term fixes and commit to an ambitious, structural plan. This is why our CEO Sam Guilaume and other European fusion and industry leaders have just signed a letter urging the European Commission to adopt an ambitious EU Fusion Strategy. Because fusion is no longer a question of if, but of when and where. Fusion power‑plant sites have already been identified in Germany, the UK, and Sweden. The US, China, Japan, and Canada are scaling public support and private investment at speed. With the right incentives, milestone‑based funding, and a clear regulatory pathway distinct from fission, commercial fusion in the 2030s is achievable—here in Europe. This is a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity for Europeans to secure our energy future, strengthen our technological sovereignty, and restore our industrial competitiveness. Let’s seize it. A great joint effort with Proxima Fusion, Novatron Fusion Group AB Focused Energy, Marvel Fusion, Fusion Industry Association as well as Gauss Fusion and other industry partners. A big thank you to Mihir Sarkar for the opportunity to present Renaissance Fusion as a case study in his course "Developing deeptechs: challenges, financing and scalability" part of the Finance and Strategy Master. It started well as everyone nodded when I asked if they were familiar with fusion. It ended even better with 40 (!) minutes of non-stop Q&A with very on-point business and policy questions. Looking forward to seeing the end of semester projects of this class!

Sounds like a very ordinary thing to do, but it's actually not that easy when you are working on something as complex as fusion energy. Still we took up that challenge. And we did not stop at "what we do" but why we do it differently - with disruptive proprietary technologies and a vertically integrated approach. We are confident this is the way to the industrial deployment of fusion. Very proud of my team (Claudio, Chloé) for this small big achievement. Agata C. Hidalgo heeft dit gedeeldWhat does it take to industrialize breakthrough technologies? In 2020, our founders chose Europe and Grenoble to create Renaissance Fusion. They did it because of its world-class international research infrastructure, its ability to attract international talent, its tech ecosystem (and a little nudge by Invest In Grenoble Alpes). We are so attached to the region that we even named our stellarator Chartreuse (after the mountain, not the drink...). But as we enter the industrialization phase, those assets will not be enough. We'll need facilities. Suppliers. And above all, financing. That's why after a stop at SLS Actiparc to meet with local stakeholders I headed to Brussels with fellow European startups and the Fusion Industry Association to discuss with the European Commission precisely how to create a continuum of financing from R&D to infrastructure. What happens after R&D grants? Which public funds can crowd in private investment at the scale that industrial facilities and pilot power plants require? By its 'world builder' nature, fusion hardly fits existing instruments. But if we wait for all technologies to be tried and tested before we finance them, we'll be forever followers. Semiconductors, batteries, renewables, they are all living proof of how challenging it is to catch up when you are late to the party. The time to invest in breakthrough innovations is now. Hidalgo heeft hierop gereageerdBanca d'Italia and European Investment Bank (EIB) organized last week an excellent seminar on the financing of innovation. With Ilaria Supino, Jean-Christophe Laloux and chairwoman emilia bonaccorsi di patti we discussed the increasing role of institutional investors in technology financing. I had the opportunity to share the journey of the #InitiativeTibi in France and its core pillars of success: political backing, alignment of public and private interests, robust LP governance, collective accreditation & individual fund selection, transparent management and absence of conflict of interests. Since 2020, 37 LPs invested €16bn in technology asset classes. Roland Lescure recently launched the 3rd phase of the initiative with 42 LPs pledging an additional €13bn. We increase the focus on #deeptech and the value chain of #AI and other scientific verticals. Scale is everything. Europe is at the very core of our mission because it is the only perimeter wide enough to compete with the US and China. This is already a reality: our accredited funds have invested 35% of their capital in the EU (excluding France). We need to go further as the momentum is becoming truly pan-European. We are thrilled to see Germany and Poland launching their own national plans, and the strong interest expressed by Italian stakeholders. Our ultimate goal? Building a federation of European ecosystems. I have advocated for this collective ambition in Les Echos, and now in La Repubblica in tandem with my co-author Lorenzo Moretti (Research Fellow at the European University Institute). We also reckon that the European Investment Fund (EIF) must be an integral part of this setup, and we warmly welcome the launch of #ETCI 2.0. Hidalgo vond dit interessantThe DANTE Fusion team travelled to Karlsruhe this week alongside our partners at FEInn - Frontiers in Energy Innovations GmbH and Next Step Fusion, meeting with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ). Germany is home to some of Europe's leading fusion research institutions, making technical collaboration across the wider European fusion ecosystem increasingly important as new technologies move towards deployment. Bringing together organisations developing complementary technologies is essential as Europe's fusion infrastructure continues to evolve. Our discussions explored the role that compact fusion neutron sources will play within that future ecosystem, and how DANTE can complement and extend existing capabilities in areas including materials research, technology development and neutron applications. A particular highlight of the visit was the opportunity to tour KIT's world-class Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe (TLK) and the Fusion Materials Laboratory (FML). Seeing these facilities first-hand provided valuable insight into the practical challenges of tritium handling, fusion materials testing and the infrastructure that underpins fusion research. Thank you to everyone at KIT and FZJ for the warm welcome and the engaging discussions. Hidalgo vond dit interessantJust published in European Council on Foreign Relations an article on the 28th Regime / EU Inc: a single, optional corporate legal form directly applicable across all 27 Member States. The article draws on two European precedents that show what ambition looks like when Europe decides to act as one (Galileo and Airbus) as a reminder that flagship European instruments succeed when their scope is preserved, not when they are diluted into national interests. As European capitals debate scaling back the ambition of the regulation -turning it into a directive or splitting it- the message is simple: an EU Inc transposed 27 times reproduces exactly the fragmentation the regulation was designed to eliminate. The EU Inc is the lever that retains talent, companies and future value inside the Union. Eszter takes on the role at an important time for fusion policy and regulation in Europe. As the EU develops its first Fusion Strategy and the ENSREG's Task Force on Fusion Energy begins its work on fusion regulatory, there is a growing need for a coordinated industry perspective on the frameworks that will support future deployment. EFA has established the Regulation Working Group to bring together expertise from across Europe's fusion ecosystem and develop industry perspectives on three priority areas: ➡️ Fusion regulation, licensing and harmonisation ➡️ Safety, tritium and waste management ➡️ Industrial standards, codes and supply chain readiness Under Eszter's leadership, the Working Group will now begin its work, and we look forward to engaging our members to ensure that the views of European industry are heard, as the fusion policy and regulatory landscape evolves. #FusionEnergy #Regulation #EuropeanIndustry

Avec Bertille Méléard comme v-p du pôle formation et carrière, nous avons eu le plaisir de renforcer les liens avec les masters en affaires publiques (ICP, Paris Dauphine, Assas, Université d'Amiens), d'accompagner des étudiants à l'occasion du Concours du lobbying et de perpétuer le programme de mentorat entre membres.
