💡 Industry News: DeepIP Secures New Funding to Accelerate AI-Driven Patent Drafting AI patent platform DeepIP has announced a new funding round aimed at accelerating development of its AI-powered tools designed for patent professionals. The platform helps IP attorneys streamline patent drafting and prosecution by summarizing technical documents, identifying novel elements, and supporting claim drafting within existing workflows. Since launch, the technology has already supported thousands of patent applications and helped practitioners significantly reduce drafting time. DeepIP says the funding will support continued product development and expansion across the United States and Europe, as demand grows for AI solutions that can support increasingly complex innovation and patent landscapes. 💡 Industry News: UK Supreme Court Resets Approach to Patentability of Computer-Implemented Inventions A recent UK Supreme Court decision is reshaping how computer-implemented inventions, including AI technologies, are assessed for patent protection. In Emotional Perception AI Ltd v. Comptroller-General of Patents, the Court confirmed that while artificial neural networks can be characterized as computer programs, inventions involving them may still qualify for patent protection where implementation requires computer hardware and technical means. The ruling represents a significant shift in UK patent practice, moving away from the long-standing Aerotel test and aligning the UK more closely with the European Patent Office’s approach to software and AI patentability.
