We're proud to share that two of ARTPARK's programmes have been featured in a newly published global mapping of AI in community health worker programmes—an independent review of how AI and GenAI tools are being used to support frontline health workers across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and beyond. The report takes a hard look at where this field actually stands: most tools are still pilots, evidence is thin, and few have reached real national scale. It's a valuable, honest snapshot of an area we care deeply about. Among the featured programmes are two of ours, which we are proud to have developed, deployed, and effectively scaled. One puts computer vision in a health worker's hand, so a phone camera can flag a suspicious oral lesion on the spot, no internet needed. The other puts a multilingual copilot in an ANM's pocket, walking her through high-risk pregnancy protocols in real time, built alongside ARMMAN. What if AI could understand not just every language, but every voice? That's the story The Hindu told this Sunday, featuring Project Vaani's newest step: the Vaani Atypical Speech Corpus. Built by IISc and ARTPARK with Google's Project Euphonia, 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬, capturing atypical speech in Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu. "Why not create technology that is 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞, instead of delivering it only to those who can speak naturally?" asks Prof. Prasanta Kumar Ghosh, who leads Project Vaani. It's the question that drives our work every single day. We at ARTPARK IISc believe AI for India must be built on 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚'𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. Project Vaani has already open-sourced 31,000+ hours of speech across 105 languages as a public good, on our way to 150,000 hours from nearly 800 districts.
