The people leading this work are building something foundational: platforms that define how enterprises model business meaning, govern data, and power AI-driven decisions at scale. That’s not a roadmap item; that’s infrastructure for the next decade of enterprise software. After 10+ years building scalable distributed systems at companies like @Amazon and GOAT Group, architecting payment platforms, fraud detection systems, and real-time infrastructure for millions of users, I’m ready to contribute to that at Microsoft scale. Helping ensure that AI agents reason and act consistently with how businesses actually operate, not just in demos, is exactly the kind of challenge I’ve been building toward. It’s been an inspiring journey filled with learning, challenges, and growth—both professionally and personally. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside incredible people across Retail, Ads, and AWS. Each experience has shaped my perspective and helped me grow—not just in skills, but in mindset. From starting as an SDE to growing into a Senior SDE and transitioning into an SDM, Amazon has given me the environment to continuously push my boundaries and grow. What stands out most is the culture, the people, and the Leadership Principles that truly guide how we think, collaborate, and build. The focus on thinking customer-first and working backwards continues to motivate me to take on meaningful challenges and strive for better outcomes. I’m grateful to all the mentors (Richie Daniel Johnson and Prabhat C.) and managers(Baijnath Agarwal, Anil Kumar, Sarika Inamdar and Rahul Verma) who have supported me along the way—thank you for being such an important part of this journey. Namita Prawal reacted on thisNamita Prawal reacted on thisSometimes the right engineering choice is the one that requires pushing against the current. After a challenging React Native migration at Amazon Music, the natural reflex was to revert back to pure native. It was an understandable reaction, but we knew it wasn't the right long-term move for our architecture. We still needed to consolidate our business and UI logic to deliver a consistent, highly performant experience across both iOS and Android. We proposed a combination of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for business logic and Compose Multiplatform (CMP) for the UI. KMP was relatively uncontroversial. CMP, however, faced real skepticism. There was valid apprehension across the team about attempting another cross-platform framework. One of our core leadership principles is "Invent and Simplify," which reminds us that as we do new things, we must accept being misunderstood for long periods of time. We believed this architecture would ultimately simplify our codebase and increase our velocity, even if the initial reaction was hesitant. This is where a strong engineering culture pays off. Ashish Totla stepped up to lead this effort. He didn't just pitch the concept. He built the initial POCs, validated CPU and memory performance, and earned the team's trust through solid research. From there, he took the initiative to train our developers and successfully drove our first CMP experience to production. We are rolling this out through a graceful migration so our customers see iterative benefits rather than waiting on a massive rewrite. The verdict so far is that it mostly "just works." We are building once and deploying to both platforms. We are still optimizing build times against our internal infrastructure, but the architectural win is clear. Really proud of Ashish for driving this initiative, and of the broader team for keeping an open mind and trusting the process. Our session is titled “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐨 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫.” This transition is something many engineers experience but rarely discuss openly. The early results have been remarkable. Early Access customers are exploring music 3x more than before, and those using search and recommendations are listening to 70% more music. It shows something I've long believed - when music discovery feels like a natural conversation, people want to listen and explore more deeply. Today we're bringing the Alexa+ experience to where you already listen - the Amazon Music app on iOS and Android for our Early Access customers in the US. This is fundamentally changing how we can connect with music in our daily lives, making discovery on Amazon Music feel less like navigating technology and more like chatting with a friend who really gets your taste. You might be able to land SDE-II at Amazon by cheating your way through with a proxy... You might be able to become a software engineer at Google by hacking the online assessments... But what will you do when the actual work starts? • When your team hands you a feature nobody’s built before, will you Google for answers or actually build something from scratch? • When production goes down, will you step up, or freeze because ChatGPT can’t debug your stack for you? • When you sit in code reviews and someone asks, “Why did you pick this approach?”, will you have an answer or just blank out? • When your manager trusts you with an architectural change, can you design, justify, and own the decision, or will you hide behind jargon and hope nobody notices? I keep seeing discussions on Blind, Reddit, everywhere, “how to game the next round,” “is anyone doing proxies for X company,” “are on-sites back?” You might have tricked an interview. But you can’t trick the work. Because the work always exposes the shortcuts. Your team isn’t dumb. Your codebase isn’t forgiving. Production bugs don’t care about your “hustle” or your hacks. And you know what stings most? If you cheat now, you’re not outsmarting the system. You’re cheating yourself out of growth. No matter how much you fake, sooner or later, the cracks show. Skill is the only thing that lasts. It’s the only shortcut that pays off, every single time. Go all in on getting better. That’s the only way you’ll be able to look back in a few years and be proud of the engineer you’ve become. You can fake an interview. You can’t fake the work. And you sure as hell can’t fake growth.

We once had a backend incident that, on paper, should've been a major outage. But nothing happened. Users kept browsing, ordering, and moving on with their day. Our fallbacks quietly took over. Under our old metrics, this would've counted as downtime. But was it really? That question changed how we think about uptime at Meesho. We stopped measuring system health and started measuring user outcomes - can the customer complete their order? Can the seller fulfill it? Simple shift.
