Well today the Linux BSP team is busy tinkering with RZ/V2L processor, trying to get it's Neural Processing Unit, DRP.AI to work, by writing some vision and detection samples. It may be noted that this is completely running on the Edge. Hardware being used is RZ/V2L board and MiPi Camera module designed-developed at GEOCON. This Unit will power Driver Monitoring Systems for Automobiles. with Anwej Alam. Varun Gupta Arshad Raja Sadain Samir Rohit Gupta and rest of the Embedded Linux team at Geocon ODM.

Sahil Khan shared thisWhat's cooking at Geocon ODM Well team comprising of Varun Gupta Abhishek K. and Rohan Kumar just tested and packed a Bluetooth LE based wireless serial terminal to be supplied to REIL. The SoC used is ST BLUENRG2 from ST Micro. The best part is that this is a Multi -Central Peripheral configuration. The plastic connector is injection moulded, customised by the team and done by one of enclosure vendors. looks neat!

Sahil Khan shared thisWhat's cooking at Geocon ODM today ? The team is busy preparing for the production of a GNSS based HMI handheld used in Indian Railways locomotives. The solution is based on an ARM9 based crossover MCU, a unique chip which has 64MB of RAM inbuilt, suitable for RTOS as well as linux kernels that don't need an MMU to boot, such as uCLinux. The entire hardware design development prototyping, production as well as software / firmware development is in house. The solution is a fine example of not just Make In India, but Designed in India. kudos to the team at Geocon. With Anwej Alam Varun Gupta Anurag Tiwari Rohan Kumar and rest of the production team.

We got here because a small team burnt the midnight oil bent over oscilloscopes, RF benches, soldering stations, and FPGA toolchains, building things from first principles when it would have been easier to import them. This contract matters but what it represents matters more: that Sovereign Defence capability is not a slide in a deck anymore. It is a deliverable, on a PO, with a delivery schedule. This changes nothing about how we work tomorrow morning. The next system still has to be designed, debugged, qualified, shipped. To the early investors who wrote cheques on conviction, before defence in India was a fashionable thesis, and who understood that this work does not move on consumer timelines - a big thank you! This is my first FPGA board and the experience has been really rewarding so far. The Lattice iCE40 setup with open source tools makes it quite approachable for beginners. I was able to run my first project and I am excited to explore more in digital design. Special thanks to Hardik Seth for going above and beyond to help me get everything set up.
