A new step for energy storage in Italy and Europe. Eni Storage Systems – jointly owned by Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB, part of SERI Industrial Spa – has begun construction work at the Brindisi industrial site for a new integrated hub dedicated to the production of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. The project will support the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems, solutions designed to store renewable energy when production exceeds demand and release it when needed, helping to strengthen grid stability and overcome the intermittency of renewables. The path to commercial fusion energy also depends on solving one of its most critical challenges: the fuel cycle. Rh3ova, launched with the UK Atomic Energy Authority, is designed to support this step by providing specialist consultancy and operational services to the growing global fusion industry. By combining UKAEA’s scientific and operational know-how with our industrial capabilities, the joint venture will support the development of fuel cycle technologies across the full lifecycle, from feasibility studies to deployment and operational support.
