Today’s Bloomberg Daybreak Chart of the Day #COTD looks at a potential shift in the global monetary order. For the first time in more than a decade, global central banks plan to reduce their long-term exposure to the US dollar, according to a report by think tank OMFIF. Instead, reserve managers are looking to increase holdings of currencies including the euro, the yuan and the pound as they prepare for a more multipolar financial system. “The search for diversification is now a central feature of reserve management,” an OMFIF team including Andrea Correa Yara Aziz Mariam Khan and Conor Perry wrote. The dollar remains the world's dominant reserve currency, but the survey suggests confidence is becoming more diversified as geopolitical tensions and changing economic dynamics reshape portfolio decisions.
