  • The big question in hemodynamics is: does this narrowing actually matter? While a CT would tell "there is a narrowing here", uCT-FFR tells "this narrowing actually reduces blood flow". We've spent decades getting better at seeing coronary stenosis on CT. A study published by JACC in November 2020 compared a new on-site CT-derived FFR algorithm (uCT-FFR) against the gold-standard invasive FFR, across 338 patients and 422 vessels at 9 centers. CTA alone achieved 92% sensitivity but only 34% specificity. That means a lot of false positives and patients potentially referred for unnecessary invasive procedures. uCT-FFR brought specificity up to 91%, matching sensitivity, for an overall accuracy of 91%. Two things stand out beyond the numbers: 1. It runs on-site, on a standard workstation, in less than 2 minutes, making it practical for real clinical workflows. 2. Performance held up in challenging cases: intermediate lesions, gray-zone FFR values (0.75–0.80), and high calcium scores. Better non-invasive data means smarter decisions and fewer unnecessary invasive and expensive referrals. Non-invasive functional assessment is no longer a research aspiration.     🎥 Letzte Woche war an unserem neuen Standort in Kiel einmal Ausnahmezustand.   Wir durften das Kamerateam der Deichblick Agentur für Bewegtbild begrüßen, das für die Dokumentationsreihe Welt der Wunder Sendebetrieb GmbH bei uns gedreht hat. Im Mittelpunkt der Dokumentation steht die Frage, wie die radiologische Versorgung zukunftsfähig gestaltet werden kann. Gerade angesichts langer Wartezeiten auf MRT- und CT-Untersuchungen und einer stetig steigenden Nachfrage braucht es neue Ansätze.   Unsere Geschäftsführerin Thuy Vi Reimann, Geschäftsführer Marcus Schmidt und Standortleiterin Antje Kempke haben Einblicke in das Versorgungskonzept von Beyond Imaging gegeben und darüber gesprochen, wie wir diagnostische Kapazitäten ausbauen und den Zugang zu MRT- und CT-Untersuchungen verbessern.   Auch unser Technologiepartner United Imaging Healthcare war mit Florian Lange vor Ort.   • HLTH Europe 2026 is a wrap, and what an experience it was. For the first time, HLTH Europe launched HealthRad, and we were honored and pleased to be there. Over the course of the event, we talked AI in radiology, foundation models, 5T imaging and what it takes to scale healthcare innovation across so many different regulations. We saw the unseen and experienced a real shift in the room: radiologists moving toward supervising AI. Our foundation models are already advancing toward multi-indication generalist models, supporting clinicians and patients in achieving better care. It was busy. It was vibrant. And the conversations went deep. We walked away having exchanged great information with the radiology and innovation community. It was clear that United Imaging belongs to this stage. As one of our colleagues put it: "Amazing to see and just realize how fast, how quickly things are changing." We believe we are extremely well-positioned to drive that change.   • AI Driving the Future of Imaging It was a pleasure to be part of this year's MedMile event, bringing together experts from healthcare, radiology and industry to discuss the future of medical imaging. A highlight for United Imaging was the presentation by the Co-CEO of United Imaging Intelligence, Dr Xiang "Sean" Zhou, who shared his perspective on how artificial intelligence is transforming diagnostic imaging. Drawing on decades of experience in computer vision, machine learning, and medical imaging, Dr Xiang demonstrated how AI is evolving beyond workflow automation to become a true clinical partner, supporting radiologists with greater efficiency, precision, and confidence while helping to improve patient care. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with customers and partners. Our Managing Director DACH, Florian Lange, represented United Imaging on site and engaged in inspiring discussions about the future of diagnostic imaging and the role of AI in clinical practice.   • Reducing retakes in digital radiography: the role of AI-assisted quality control Repeat examinations pose a recurring challenge in digital radiography, with reject rates around 8-10% in Europe. Key causes include positioning errors, anatomy cut-off, and patient motion.   • Clinical Case: Crohn's disease A 29-year-old had been living with maldigestion and malnutrition for a decade. He had multiple imaging examinations, two laparotomies, but no conclusive answer. For years, imaging the intestines in motion at diagnostic quality wasn't possible. Conventional MRI captures a still frame, while the intestines never stop moving. That was simply the boundary of what technology could do. But LIVE Imaging changes what's possible. It acquires continuous, time-resolved sequences visualising dynamic physiological processes as they actually occur, without sacrificing diagnostic image quality. And so, the patient finally received his first confirmed diagnosis: mixed fibrotic and oedematous stenosis of the splenic flexure. And with a diagnosis came a treatment path, biologic therapy, that hadn't been possible before. This is what equal healthcare looks like in practice.
