Six persons arrested for robbing Assam native

Kochi: Central police arrested six men for allegedly attacking an Assam native who runs a lodge in the city and robbing him of Rs 2,000 in the early hours of Wednesday.The arrested have been identified as K G Althaf, 29, of Chullikkal; Akhil Ussam, 33, of Mattancherry; Sajeer, 37, of Fort Kochi; K G Pramod, 32, of Nayarambalam; K M Shaheer, 48, and Siraj A, 30, of Thoppumpady.The attack happened at the lodge on Vivekananda Road in Ernakulam South around 2am. According to police, the six men arrived at the lodge in an ambulance and allegedly assaulted Ajijul Hok, 28. The victim sustained injuries in the attack.According to police, the gang went to the lodge looking for a caretaker at the lodge. When the victim told them that he was not there, the accused became enraged. The victim was running the lodge on lease.Police said the accused are history-sheeters, and Pramod was arrested in a narcotics case in 2025.
