Sabyasachi Chakrabarty enters Adv. Achinta Aich 3 as a formidable defence lawyer

Aactor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty has joined the cast of the third season of the legal comedy-drama Adv. Achinta Aich, setting the stage for an intense courtroom showdown with Ritwick Chakraborty. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the new season introduces Sabyasachi as Digvijay Singha, a formidable defence lawyer who goes head-to-head with Achinta Aich, played by Ritwick.Known for his commanding screen presence, Sabyasachi takes on one of the franchise's most significant new characters. Meanwhile, Ritwick returns as the sharp-witted lawyer Achinta Aich, but with a twist this season. After defending clients in the previous instalments, Achinta steps into the role of a prosecutor for the first time, taking on what promises to be his most challenging case yet.The story revolves around a sensational imposter case that shakes Kolkata. Wealthy businessman Neel Roy Barman is presumed dead after a car accident, and his wife Debjani prepares to inherit his fortune. However, the family's world is thrown into chaos when a man claiming to be Neel appears at his own funeral, insisting that another body was mistakenly cremated due to a morgue mix-up. What follows is a gripping courtroom battle that uncovers family secrets, greed, blackmail, murder and an elaborate revenge plot.The new season also features Ishaa Saha as Debjani Roy Barman, alongside Mithu Chakrabarty and Abhishek Bose in pivotal roles. Kheya Chattopadhyay returns as Geeta, Achinta's wife, while Debraj Bhattacharya reprises his role as Bheem, Achinta's trusted assistant.Speaking about his role, Sabyasachi said he was drawn to the project because of the strength of its writing and the layered nature of Digvijay Singha. He described the lawyer as an accomplished man driven by conviction, intelligence and quiet authority, adding that working with Joydeep whom he called a dear friend, and sharing screen space with Ritwick made the experience especially rewarding.Ritwick said returning as Achinta Aich always feels special because every season presents the character with a fresh challenge. He noted that this season marks Achinta's first outing as a prosecutor and said sharing screen space with Sabyasachi da was an enriching experience. He added that their courtroom face-off is likely to be one of the season's biggest highlights.Director said the aim was to raise both the emotional and legal stakes in the third season. He said bringing Sabyasachi on board as Digvijay Singha added tremendous gravitas to the narrative, while the expanded ensemble cast further strengthened the story's emotional and dramatic layers.
