The ‘Dangal’ actor recently married his ladylove, Gauri Spratt, in an intimate monsoon wedding and sealed the deal with a rare ruby wedding ring that required the expertise of 131 master artisans and an astounding 256 hours of handwork. Aamir Khan’s wedding ring for Gauri Spratt was crafted by the luxury jewellery brand QWEEN. The stone at the centre of the ring is a natural ruby, which has a cabochon cut and originates in Madagascar. But wait until you see the colour on it. The ruby has an amazing shade which will make the ring stand out from any other ring, making it different from other engagement rings and wedding rings that people may have come across. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, one of the co-founders of the jewellery brand said that it was quite a long journey to find the perfect kind of stone, which lasted for three months. He said, “This is a ruby from Madagascar, which is quite rare and available once in a million. The wedding ring is designed to look royal.”

The ring is not just another rare stone, but the craftsmanship behind it is truly interesting. From the first stage of design to the final setting and polish, the ring took around 256 hours to complete. It involved around 131 skilled artisans to craft this stunning piece, where each worked on a different aspect of detailing and designing. This kind of piece is an heirloom material and is meant to be passed down from generation to generation.

The ring does not follow the conventional clean and typical minimalistic setting and looks subtle with a majestic end. The ruby has a crown-like mount with gold scallops, giving it an antique look. The milgrain beading and the bombé signet profile also contribute to the design's distinctive appearance. But the addition of the diamonds in the mount makes everything look richer and more iconic.

This is not the first occasion where Aamir is believed to have given a unique piece of jewellery to Gauri.
