India and Australia Finalise Uranium Export Arrangement Under Civil Nuclear Agreement
India and Australia have finalised the administrative arrangement enabling the export of Australian uranium to India for exclusively peaceful purposes under the 2015 Australia-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during the Third India-Australia Annual Summit in Melbourne, the agreement places all uranium exports under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.The two countries also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening energy security, resilient supply chains and clean energy cooperation. Both sides pledged to deepen collaboration in nuclear energy, LNG, coal, renewable energy, liquid fuels and critical minerals while supporting open, rules-based energy markets. The leaders also expressed concern over disruptions to global energy supply chains caused by tensions in the Middle East and reiterated their shared vision for a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
