Prabhash Mondol, one of the accused in the Baruipur rape and murder case, was killed in a police encounter during the early hours of July 8. According to police, Mondol was taken to Suryapur around 12:45 AM for the reconstruction of the crime scene when he allegedly snatched the service weapon of a police personnel, fired a shot and attempted to flee.Police said the team retaliated by opening fire, injuring Mondol. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The incident has added a dramatic twist to the high-profile Baruipur rape and murder case, with police maintaining that the accused was killed while attempting to escape. Further investigation into the case is underway.
