High Profile Political Meeting Rekindle Talk Of NCP Unity In Maharashtra; Patil Denies Buzz
Speculation over a possible reunification of the Nationalist Congress Party has once again intensified in Maharashtra after a series of key political meetings involving leaders from both factions and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The renewed buzz follows interactions at the Chief Minister’s residence, which have triggered discussions around a potential merger between the Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar camps. The backdrop to these developments remains the July 2, 2023 split in the NCP, when Ajit Pawar broke away and joined the BJP–Shiv Sena government, leading to a division within the party. The Election Commission later recognised the Ajit Pawar faction as the official NCP in 2024, further deepening the divide. The latest speculation gained momentum after senior leader Jayant Patil met CM Fadnavis on July 14. While the meeting has drawn attention, Patil has not confirmed any merger-related agenda. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut has dismissed the rumours, alleging that such narratives are being deliberately spread by the BJP and the Shinde faction. Raut also said Supriya Sule has expressed surprise over the reports and is expected to clarify her position.Despite the growing buzz, there has been no official confirmation from either faction. However, the developments have once again brought the possibility of NCP reunification into focus in Maharashtra’s dynamic political landscape.
