On June 26, two Indian ships successfully transited the strait, marking continued but cautious resumption of traffic. However, an third Indian-flagged vessel, BW Loyalty, approached the passage and then abruptly turned back, underlining the uncertainty that continues to surround one of the world’s busiest oil routes.Adding to the tension, a cargo vessel was reportedly struck by an unidentified projectile near Oman. Although no casualties were reported, the incident has raised fresh concerns over maritime safety in the region. Soon after, the International Maritime Organization paused its evacuation initiative, which was aimed at assisting thousands of stranded seafarers. Data shows a fragmented pattern, with some ships exiting the Gulf while others delay, loop or move deeper into the region. The Strait may be reopening, but shipping behaviour indicates that operators are still navigating risk in real time. For India, which depends heavily on this route for crude imports, the stakes remain high as uncertainty continues to shape movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
