🚴♂️ We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to Advanced yesterday. As part of an incredible fundraising challenge, Crowcon's Andy Avenell is cycling 1,150 miles from his home in Reading to visit every UK-based Halma plc company throughout June and July. Andy is taking on the challenge in memory of his friend, Andy Earnshaw, who sadly passed away this year after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. During his illness, Sue Ryder provided vital care and support, and this journey is Andy's way of raising both funds and awareness for the charity that made such a difference. Over the course of two months, Andy is travelling the length and breadth of the UK, visiting Halma companies, meeting colleagues and sharing the story behind this inspiring challenge. The team caught up with Andy over a cup of tea before Managing Director Antonio Telesca, MBA officially marked Advanced off his challenge t-shirt. He then headed on to his next stop, OsecoElfab, as he continues his journey towards the finish line at Halma's headquarters in Amersham. Last week, we were pleased to welcome 16-year-old William to Advanced for a work experience placement. Having recently completed his GCSEs, he joined us to explore different career options and gain a better understanding of how a manufacturing business operates. From seeing the scale of our manufacturing facility to learning about the skill and attention to detail involved in production, the placement offered a first-hand look at how a range of teams contribute to our success. A huge congratulations to the team from Advanced who recently completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, covering 24 miles across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in just under 12 hours. The challenge was organised by Software Developer Laura Ibbotson, who was raising funds for Cancer Research UK, while Senior Design Engineer John Beverley was raising money for the British Heart Foundation. We're delighted that they both achieved their £500 fundraising targets. The event was made possible not only by the hikers themselves, but also by colleagues who helped with planning and logistics, alongside support from the Advanced Fun Fund. We're incredibly proud of everyone involved. From the training and preparation to the determination shown on the day, it was a fantastic group effort for two great causes and a shining example of the teamwork, determination and community spirit that exists across Advanced.
