À propos

At Chartwells Universities, we are so much more than just market-leading university caterers. We know that for today’s university students, delicious food isn’t enough. For meals and snacks to keep them engaged and energised for success, they must be as convenient as they are inspiring, educational, and diverse. That’s why we go beyond the plate to create inclusive food experiences that truly align with students’ preferences and provide the ultimate convenience for their busy schedules. For us, cultivating outstanding education experiences goes much deeper than preparing great-tasting food. We’re fuelling the future workforce and are passionate about connecting with students to create an understanding of health and nutrition that will stay with them for life

  • Chartwells Universities & Colleges was glad to be a part of London Climate Action Week last week - across the UK our sites engaged with #SustainabilityActions, and shared how they are reducing their environmental impact within their operations. We strive to embed #sustainability into everything we do whether that’s giving our young people the skills to become #ClimateAdvocates, our teams to use resources efficiently or our chefs to create delicious, low-impact, seasonal dishes.  Our team was delighted to attend a number of events across the capital to hear and contribute to discussions on topics such as the future food environment, green pathways for young people and incorporating plant proteins in our diets.    Thank you #London for an inspirational week, we’re leaving with a wealth of ideas to further inspire our teams and young people.   #LCAW #ClimateChange #ClimateAction

  • 🌱 Driving Sustainability Together at #LSBU #Sustainability sits at the heart of the partnership between London South Bank University and #Chartwells, and we’re proud of the progress we’re making to create a more sustainable campus. Aligned with our commitment to achieving #NetZero by 2030, we’ve introduced a range of impactful initiatives that are already making a difference: ✅ Saving around 50 meals per week from waste through Too Good To Go ✅ Donating surplus food to support students living on campus ✅ Removing single-use plastic bottled drinks and switching to more sustainable alternatives ✅ Running monthly Social Kitchens to help students cook nutritious, affordable meals ✅ Supporting campaigns like #StopFoodWasteDay ✅ Working towards Sustainable Restaurant Association accreditation We’re also excited to be partnering with Social Impact Coffee CIC, supporting fair wages for farmers, ethical sourcing, and environmentally responsible production—while reducing food miles with a local roastery. Looking ahead, we’re continuing to innovate by introducing on-site beehive honey, expanding use of the LSBU National Bakery School, and encouraging reuse through hydration stations and discounts for reusable cups. This is more than a set of initiatives—it’s about building a culture of sustainability across our campus community. Together, we’re creating meaningful change for today and for future generations. #FoodWaste #HigherEducation #SocialImpact

  • Today marks the first day of #LondonClimateActionWeek! Our Climate and Environment Manager Amy Armstrong, and Head of Social Value Nichola McAvoy, will be joining students, policymakers and other education stakeholders at a roundtable event led by SOS UK and LinkedIn to discuss green pathways for young people. In addition to offering great food, we know that opportunities to explore sustainability and gain green skills are essential to the students we feed, not just for their career opportunities but also for lifelong sustainable food choices. That’s why #sustainability is at the heart of our education programme.

  • We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with Plymouth Marjon University, following the award of a new cleaning contract across key areas of the campus.   Chartwells Universities has proudly delivered catering services at Plymouth Marjon University for several years, and this latest award builds on a strong, trusted, site‑based relationship. Having successfully supported the University with temporary cleaning provision in the Sports Centre from September 2024, and student accommodation cleaning for the first time in summer 2025, we are pleased to now be delivering a longer term contract covering the Sports Centre alongside cleaning services for the university's new Health and Wellbeing Hub. This contract, secured through full public tender, reflects the confidence Plymouth Marjon University places in our teams and our approach, where local knowledge, consistency and collaboration make a real difference.   Laurence Gully, Director of Campus and Commercial Services at Plymouth Marjon University said: “Chartwells Universities has developed a strong understanding of our campus and community over time. The team is genuinely part of the University, and that culture of partnership, flexibility and trust was a key factor in our decision to officially extend the relationship into cleaning services.”   As universities increasingly look for partners who can deliver joined‑up, high‑quality services, this award highlights how long‑term relationships and on‑site teams can support continuity, resilience and value. Thank you to our teams on the ground for their commitment and professionalism, and to Plymouth Marjon University for their continued trust.
