Come and see us tomorrow, Thame High Street will become a street library, a "kindness and love" appreciation zone, a play space, a community tea garden, a storytelling den, a rhyme time zone, a wellness space and the edge BIG community map!!
What if Thame High Street felt completely different, even just for a day? 💓 On 2nd July, edge Urban Design, Thame Town Council and 21st Century Thame are proud to be hosting Thame PARK(ing) Day - transforming parking spaces outside Thame Town Hall into temporary places for people. PARK(ing) Day is a global movement that reimagines parking spaces as pop-up public spaces: places to sit, meet, play, pause, plant, perform, talk and imagine something different. We took part in Brum PARK(ing) Day last year organised by Define Architects - and this year we wanted to bring it to Oxfordshire! For one day, a small part of Thame High Street will become creative “parklets” shaped by local businesses, artists, community groups, charities, performers, residents and anyone with an idea for making a parking space more generous than a car park. So far it looks like the parklets will be pop-up Kindness and Love, a street library, a children’s play space, a wellness space, a community tea garden, a place to share stories, rhyme time and crafts and the edge team with a big map of Thame to collect community ideas. 💚 Kali Cafe 💚 Redkite 💚 Thame Library 💚 Kubota Corporation 💚 Thame Runners 💚 Her Land 💚 At edge, we’re passionate about creating streets and public spaces that are more inclusive, social, playful and people-focused. Thame PARK(ing) Day is a chance to test ideas, spark conversations and show how even the smallest spaces can support care, connection and community. Want to get involved? We have a couple of parking spaces left if you're desperate to join us, contact Rebecca - rebecca.vau@edgeud.co.uk and we can sort out a parking space for you. If not, just come and say hello! Event date: Thursday 2 July 2026 Event open: 10am–4pm Location: Outside Thame Town Hall Hosted by: edge Urban Design, Thame Town Council and 21st Century Thame We’d love people to get involved, come along, and help us reimagine what Thame High Street could become. #ParkingDay #Thame #UrbanDesign #Placemaking #PublicRealm #PeopleFirstPlaces #CommunityDesign #HealthyStreets #edgeUrbanDesign

Welcome to land at The Downs, Standlake – our recently submitted outline application for up to 200 homes in the West Oxfordshire District, designed by Huda Hameed and Sarah Middleton on behalf our client Mac Mic Land. Located on the western edge of Standlake, the proposals will bring up to 200 new homes to the village, 40% of which will be affordable, helping to meet local housing needs in the wider district and creating a welcoming new gateway into the village. At the heart of the masterplan is a focus on creating a place where people can live, connect, and enjoy their surroundings. Alongside new homes, the proposals include up to 300 sqm of retail and community space, new play areas, and plenty of green open space for the community to enjoy. The design also makes the most of the site's existing walking and cycling connections, making it easier for people to travel sustainably and access the village and surrounding areas without always needing to use a car. A network of connected streets, green spaces, and recreational routes will help create a neighbourhood that feels safe, welcoming, and easy to get around. By combining new homes with high-quality public spaces and areas for nature to thrive, the development aims to support healthy, active lifestyles and create a strong sense of community for both new and existing residents. #urbandesign #masterplanning #placesforpeople #sustainableplacemaking

Earlier this spring, team edge came together in Thame for a morning with the wonderful Charlotte Pownall at Blue Octopus Learning, who delivered a valuable training session on Insights Discovery. Charlotte led us through this dynamic personal development framework, helping us deepen our self-awareness, strengthen our communication skills, and build even stronger relationships across our team. As a people-first practice, building meaningful relationships - both within our team and with our clients and consultants - is at the heart of what we do. We value open, honest communication, creating genuine connections, and embracing the diverse perspectives that make our team unique. Charlotte’s training gave us the opportunity to explore how we can build on these strengths and continue to develop our communication and collaboration skills even further. A few months on, we’ve been reflecting on our colour energies, the ways we work and communicate with one another, and how we can continue to support our people to be the best team possible. A huge thank you to Charlotte for sharing her knowledge and expertise with us - her training has been an invaluable part of our team development journey in 2026!

edge Urban Design reposted this
A reminder that the future of our cities will be shaped by the questions we are brave enough to ask 💥now💥!!! Yesterday at the University of Birmingham, we explored Digbeth with lots of new ideas and debate about transforming the fabric of the city. Teaching urban design always reminds me how refreshing it is to change mindset for the day, get away from your emails and absorb the enthusiasm of young(er) people! I came away feeling full of ideas sparked by the students, the conversations and the brilliant panel I had the chance to teach alongside: Dr. Rakib Akhtar Jin Xu Kate Edwards Chloe Luvena Dent Claudia Carter Shang Liang Annabel Keegan Michael Phillips Emma McKinney Matt Fielding Hiro Aso Nicholas Kettridge X Wu #UrbanDesign #Placemaking #BuiltEnvironment #UniversityOfBirmingham #Cities #DesignEducation
