This week we celebrated the structural completion of Burton Green Tunnel, a 700m-long green tunnel that will carry HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd trains beneath the Warwickshire village. By taking the railway below-ground and restoring the landscape above, the tunnel will help maintain the Kenilworth Greenway, an important route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, while maintaining ecological links across the area. Design work on Burton Green Tunnel began in 2019, with our Design Joint Venture with SYSTRA bringing together specialists from across engineering, architecture, landscape and environmental disciplines. Combining expertise from every angle, the team developed a design that balances complex technical requirements with the needs of the surrounding landscape and communities. A proud achievement for everyone involved.

Ravi Uppar has been at home on construction sites since he was a young boy, when he used to accompany his father to sites in Karnataka, India. Today he lives in the #UAE, where he is currently a senior resident engineer on a major redevelopment of the Mall of the Emirates, one of Dubai’s busiest shopping destinations. In this blog, Ravi shares his experience of overseeing day-to-day site activities, safeguarding clients’ operations, maintaining trust and keeping programmes moving without disruption. Construction activities are underway on the Maine Department of Transportation's (MaineDOT) Bangor I‑95 bridges replacement project. As designer within the #DesignBuild team alongside CIANBRO and Haley & Aldrich, we’re supporting the replacement of three aging bridges with simpler, more durable structures. An innovative staging approach eliminated the need for a temporary bridge, reducing disruptions and improving constructability throughout delivery. We're helping to turn everyday transportation corridors into safer, greener spaces for all. Construction was recently completed on the Highway 1 North Cowichan Safety Improvements Project in British Columbia. We worked closely with BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit to deliver new 1.8‑metre (6-foot) high fencing and continuous landscaped median along a 700‑metre (2,300-foot) stretch of Highway 1. To help guide pedestrians to safer, signalized crossings, we: ▪️Provided detailed design of the fence and median ▪️Revised traffic signal operations at Beverly Street and York Road/James Street ▪️Increased turn lane capacity at York Road, reducing conflict points and supporting safer, more efficient traffic flow The project also introduced more green space by expanding tree canopy coverage and reducing hardscape to support a more sustainable and welcoming environment. These improvements will enhance safety for road users, including more than 1,100 students traveling to the nearby Quw’utsun Secondary School, and improve the aesthetics of the streetscape for the community. #UrbanMobility #RoadSafety
