This is Robin Watson, our Head of Sales at FuneralBranch, delivering one of our trademark bonsai trees to Omega Funerals 🌳 Omega was one of FuneralBranch’s first customers, and since launching their new FuneralBranch website, they have seen some brilliant results. 📈 In just six weeks, they went from not appearing on Google to ranking in the top three for searches like “funeral directors near me”. 📞 Their real-time funeral estimator is saving the team around 30 minutes on every new enquiry call. 🤝 Most importantly, families are finding Omega online and choosing them as their funeral director. Just one funeral originating from their FuneralBranch website exceeded the cost of their FuneralBranch subscription for an entire year. But we’re not standing still. We have recently rebuilt Omega’s website from the ground up, adding: • Clearer information about funeral arrangements • More practical bereavement support • Greater transparency around some of life’s most difficult processes The bonsai is a small reminder of the care and long-term growth we aim to bring to every funeral director we work with. Although we hear this one may already have found a new home with their mum… A funeral director’s website should do more than simply look presentable. It should be a digital branch that supports families, saves the team time and helps your business grow. Interested in hearing more about Omega’s journey? Send us a message, and we’ll share the full case study.

Better late than never… Here’s the FuneralBranch team at the National Funeral Exhibition. It was brilliant to meet so many funeral directors and feel the support of customers old and new. Many left with a trademark FuneralBranch bonsai because helping independent funeral businesses grow apparently wasn’t literal enough. 🌱 But that is the idea behind FuneralBranch.com A funeral director’s website shouldn’t just sit there looking respectable. It should climb Google. Generate trackable enquiries. Offer urns and keepsakes online. Reduce admin. And contribute to a stronger, more sustainable business. More than a website that pays for itself, we offer a digital branch that helps families make informed decisions while supporting the independence of the funeral director behind it. Make your website your hardest-working employee.

The UK has some of the highest energy costs in the developed world. Should valuable heat from crematoria simply vanish into the air? Did you know Denmark heats homes with heat emissions from cremations? Since 2010, the Aalborg crematorium has captured excess heat from cremations and fed it into the city’s district heating network. Back in 2006, Denmark’s Council of Ethics reviewed the practice and gave it the green light, highlighting strong environmental benefits and no ethical barriers. One of the major reasons cited was that the generation of heat was not the primary function of a cremation, but rather a byproduct. With energy sovereignty on the national agenda across Europe, waste heat recovery is now a hot topic 👀 . A recent study shows that UK crematoria could collectively recover 141–281 GWh of heat per year, enough to heat roughly 12,000-24,500 typical UK homes annually. (More info in comments). That’s real potential for: - Lower energy bills - Reduced emissions - Smarter use of existing infrastructure Should the UK follow Denmark’s lead? Or does this cross a cultural or ethical line? Where do you stand? 👇 #EnergyCrisis #WasteHeatRecovery #Sustainability #DistrictHeating #CircularEconomy #NetZero

  • What does building infrastructure for end-of-life actually look like? At Ownleaf, it means understanding how to support every community with the right services, at the right time. It’s about bringing visibility to the hidden providers, those often only found through word of mouth and making them accessible to more families. Because at the most difficult moments, choice shouldn’t depend on who you know. We're helping to build better goodbyes.

Sneak peek at Ownleaf's upcoming release 👀 We’ve rebuilt the Federation of African & Black Funeral Operatives website (FACFO). Designed to better connect families with everything end-of-life. From funeral directors and bereavement counselling to DJs (yes, DJs at funerals, celebrating life!). If you support, serve, or are part of the African or Caribbean community in the end-of-life industry (or want to be!) please share this post or feel free to DM me.
