Within my 18 years of content experience I’ve worked for the coolest products like Snapchat and NordVPN. I built the content production process for Snappables from zero — 300+ AR mini-games inside an app with 200M DAU: planning, creative standards, Legal and Brand Safety approvals, localization into 41 languages, and managing outsourced writers. At NordVPN, I designed copy for CRO experiments and hit some cool numbers like a short upsell copy generating 40% of the product's total billings. I’d love to continue working at the intersection of creativity x product metrics. The more complex the role, the longer it takes. And yet most of that time isn't spent evaluating candidates. It's spent on back-and-forth emails trying to find a slot that works. TA teams invest heavily in sourcing and screening: more job boards, faster CV review, AI candidate matching. And then the process grinds to a halt at scheduling. Move too slowly and you'll see the drop-off, the delay, the candidate who's gone cold before you even get them to round two. I sat down recently with Kaitlin Ford, SHRM-CP, HR Manager at Olympus Insurance, where a two-person HR team is managing hiring in a high-turnover industry. Something she said stuck with me. Before using Cronofy inside Paycor, her team was doing everything right: a strong process, a well-configured Paycor Recruiting ATS, full compliance tracking in place. The bottleneck wasn't sourcing. It was the back-and-forth to book a single interview. The moment Cronofy was turned on inside their Paycor account, the difference was immediate. Kaitlin sent out nine interview requests 30 minutes before leaving the office. By the next morning, five were on the calendar. All logged in Paycor. No follow-up. No manual updates. No chasing. Halyna Divakova shared thisIn early 2014, I was in my second year of my marketing career, working for my second full-time employer and already building solid expertise in the fast-growing global mobile apps and adtech space. Full of enthusiasm for the future, I was finally earning enough to see the world outside Ukraine. However, Russia had different plans. On February 26, 2014, Russian soldiers began the occupation of Crimea. I had recently moved south to Odesa for my new job; my family was in Kherson — the closest region to Crimea. In Odesa, my colleagues and I were watching closely to see how far Russia would go. On the day it became clear that Russia had annexed Crimea, we all gathered at the Clickky office and wrote our home addresses on pieces of paper. Vadim Rogovskiy 🇺🇦 told us that we would evacuate to Moldova if Russia moved further. Thankfully, they did not risk advancing at that time — but if they had done so in 2014, they likely would have succeeded. I was 24 and ready to travel the world. The economic crisis that followed the occupation of Crimea, along with the start of the war in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, left me feeling uncertain. Every day, airplanes carrying wounded Ukrainian soldiers were landing at Odesa airport. For a month, it felt like all my dreams would remain just dreams. Thankfully, they did not. With colleagues from my former company, Skylum, I went to Istanbul for the Easter holidays. Civil aviation was still in the sky, and life was slowly returning to normal everywhere —except in the East. At the same time, many of my future colleagues and friends were already fleeing the war. In 2014, many came to Odesa, Kherson, and Kyiv — three cities I call home. There we met later. Some of them are reading this now (hi, folks…). Despite the fear and chaos, everyone who was not directly affected by the war or occupation tried to continue their daily lives. Those of us working in the tech sector were among the luckiest in Ukraine, as 3x and 4x inflation did not hit us as hard as others (tech salaries in Ukraine are traditionally tied to the US dollar exchange rate). In July 2014, I continued pursuing my dream of traveling and flew to London for the first time. During that week, while I was falling in love with the city I currently live in, the worst possible thing happened. Russian-backed militants shot down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur over the Donetsk region. It was horrifying to watch the news, knowing that in a few days I would have to board a plane and fly back to Kyiv. I think this was the moment the world realised that this was not only about Russia and Ukraine. Halyna Divakova liked thisHalyna Divakova liked thisLast month, my client was officially granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) under the Appendix Victim of Domestic Abuse (Appendix VDA) route. For months, my client was trapped in a nightmare, not just enduring severe psychological and economic abuse, but paralyzed by the terrifying fear that leaving their partner meant being deported from the UK and leaving her child behind. Abusers routinely use immigration status as a psychological weapon, telling victims: "If you leave me or report this, the Home Office will kick you out." It is a cruel lie. But when you are isolated, stripped of your independence, and have fled your home with nothing, it feels like an inescapable reality. Applying for settlement under the domestic violence route is incredibly high-stakes and projects exceptionally hard and stressful time. No one should ever have to choose between their personal safety and their legal right to remain in the UK. The law is explicitly designed to protect you, whether the abuse you face is physical, emotional, or financial. Lastly, I am pleased with outcome that we received in just 5 months and look forward to stand for applicants in such situations in future!

Halyna Divakova liked thisHalyna Divakova liked thisPivoting back into law was a choice I made a few years ago, nearly a decade after leaving University and rejecting the idea of becoming a lawyer entirely. At 21, I could never identify or align myself with the only image I had of what a lawyer looked like. The journey since then has taken me through the world of NGOs, into the start-up tech world, and now to qualifying as a solicitor. For me, this milestone is about resilience more than anything else. The reality of qualifying this way, studying around work and the relentlessness of it, came at a cost to my mental wellbeing. I learned legal advocacy out of a textbook but I'm still learning how to advocate for myself in real life. However, none of it would have been possible without the people along the way. To the Perk Legal and Privacy team who are kind, thoughtful, and genuinely inspiring people, thank you for the words of wisdom and the support in getting through this. To my SQE friends; Eve B. & Alicja Pawlowska, who I am immensely proud of for their own unique journeys in getting here. To my mentor Christine Baer, who showed me how leading with equal parts empathy and intelligence can mean everything to someone when they need it the most, and who gave me more of her time, belief and guidance than I can ever repay! And finally to my family and friends, whose love has never once been conditional on what I achieve, and who never needed me to have this to believe in me. I have learnt through this process, that I also never needed this to believe in myself either.
