🤯🤯The British Business Bank is far bigger than I even thought 🤯🤯 Some incredible insights from David, CFO at the British Business Bank yesterday at SETsquared Partnership 👇 🚀 The BBB has backed or has a stake in 25% of the country’s deep-tech companies — a huge catalyst for innovation. 💷 BBB is managing £5.2bn through fund managers, with £300m invested directly — and is preparing to commit an additional £2.6bn across the nations and regions. 📍 Two new regional investment zones will be next to be unlocked with £350m of funding for the East and South East 🎓 30% of British Business Bank funding goes to university spin-outs, even though they represent just 9% of companies founded. A powerful testament to academic commercialisation. ✅ Impressively, 97% of businesses backed by BBB are still active. 🇬🇧 The UK currently produces 6 unicorns per 1,000 high-growth companies, compared to 19 in the US.
