We’re delighted to announce that Harmony Energy’s Skeeby Solar Community Fund is supporting projects that support safer streets, local schools and cleaner air. Here are four fantastic initiatives now underway: 🚲 Safer streets in Skeeby – Skeeby Parish Council will install a solar-powered Moveable Vehicle Activated Speed Sign, along with Community Speed Watch signs and equipment, helping protect all road users. 🌳 A greener Richmond – Richmond Town Council is planting apple and plum trees in Lady Serena Park, creating a welcoming green space for residents to enjoy. 🚸 Cleaner air for school journeys – In partnership with Richmond School, Richmondshire Climate Action Partnership and North Yorkshire Council, the fund is backing a scooter shelter, “No Idling” banners for Clean Air Day and beyond, and “Scoot to School” rewards to encourage healthier, low-pollution travel. 🎄 Festive cheer for the community – The Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA) will receive funding for the 2025 Christmas Fair. Skeeby Parish Council, said: “The donation from the Harmony Energy Community Fund will enable us in our endeavours with the funding of a solar-powered Moveable Vehicle Activated Speed Sign, along with associated items to support our existing Community Speed Watch volunteer team. We hope to encourage safer driving, to have significant benefits for active travel, and to improve community cohesion, as a direct result of this project." Shawton Energy has signed a 25-year portfolio PPA with Carlton Academy Trust, covering 7 sites as part of an 817 kWp solar rollout. The project was fully developed in-house and approved by the Department for Education, providing a great example of how the public education sector can use PPAs to meet decarbonisation targets. We have already delivered 313 kWp solar PV across 6 Carlton Academy Trust sites during the summer break, installed in just 6 weeks, supporting their journey to net zero by 2050. The system will deliver: ✔️ 800,918 kWh of renewable electricity every year ✔️160,354 kg CO₂ emissions saved annually ✔️Over £1.5m in projected savings over 25 years All with no upfront cost through our PPA model.
