Ben Usher shared thisAlmost a full week of birthday celebrations have come to an end and what a week it’s been! 🥳🎂 A trip to the amazing Buxton Crescent Champneys spa hotel in the Peak District, country pubs and hot tubs, family gatherings and meals, drinks and catch ups with friends and a whole load of work alongside the social antics and the gallivanting! 🧘 Keeping all of the plates spinning at any one time, and trying not to drop any of them as a busy entrepreneur, is no small feat. Diary Tetris I think they call it! 🧱 So taking the time to find the balance in a jam packed, chaotic calendar of meetings, calls and events, morning, noon and night is imperative for me. 👌 That said... 32 feels better than ever.🕺 At 32, I’m probably the busiest, but more importantly, the most fulfilled that I’ve ever been. ❤️ Incredibly dedicated to building my AI driven software business & hiring platform Neurovirse that's going to help millions of #Neurodivergent individuals globally with my extremely talent Co-Founders Kevin B., Mike Hulse... 🧠 Coupled with recruiting individuals and teams for some of the biggest and most exciting brands in the world, in a multitude of countries and time zones, surrounded by my brilliant colleagues and friends at the rec hub.! Approaching my 30s, I'd been feeling for a while that there was more for me than working for someone else in a 9-5, I just didn't know what that "more" looked like yet. Then my brother and I had an idea we were super passionate about but had zero industry experience, no business plan and next to no budget. It was an idea we got obsessed with, and that was enough to convince us to GO FOR IT 🤍 Fast forward to today, we... ✅ wrote out a detailed business plan ✅ tested countless samples until we had the perfect formula ✅ worked with designers to bring the brand and packaging to life ✅ built our own website without any help from an agency ✅ pushed past the fear of posting ourselves on social media (some videos ended up with 100k+ views) ✅ made a ton of mistakes but learned twice as much from it We're nearly ready and just a few weeks away from launching SPYN 🎾💧 🔔 I'll be sharing my journey here and on Instagram (@drinkspyn) so follow along for the highs, lows and reality of building a business with your brother.

Fast forward 2 years and we have an incredible team of 29, have launched our Austin and London offices and hugely upgraded our Manchester HQ (multiple times!). We have grown Ops with two superstars on my team - Georgia Steel and Mica Reid, aswell as Sam Ridley levelling up the game💪🏼 In 2 years I have helped shape an Ops powerhouse, been promoted, been taken on 4 incentive trips and loved every minute!! Shout out to Callum Runnegar-Mundy and Jake Adshead who’ve been my partners in crime and supporters from day 1. Massive thank you to Elliott White and Elliott Fielding for bringing me on this journey. It’s a pleasure to help build the #1 firm in the space with you both! Here’s to many more 🙏🏼🍾💙

I amost didn't go, as sometimes female founder events can be all-fart-no-poo (aka it's full of VC analysts who have never writtten a cheque but act like they are Peter Thiel). Sorry but it's true. But BOY was I wrong. Everyone there was a senior investor (partner level), and my 2 minute pitch turned into a term sheet from a UK fund for half a milllllll LFG. These type of events are genuinely SO RARE for female founders - and I am so excited to say that LSEG have just opened applications for this years' pitch event on 10th September!! And I'm speaking at it!! You solve one problem only for another to appear and somehow, you find a way to keep moving forward. The longer I do this, the more I realise that resilience isn't built alone. Every meaningful milestone is the result of people choosing to show up for our mission and for each other, day after day. The last few months have asked a lot of my team. We've had to adapt, make difficult decisions and keep moving through uncertainty. Through it all, no one has lost sight of why we're here. Watching people care this deeply about our mission is something I'll never take for granted. To our beta families, our team, our investors and everyone who's backed us, believed in us, opened doors for us or simply cheered us on from the sidelines - thank you. Your belief in what we're building inspires me every single day. Building a company isn't glamorous most of the time. It's messy, emotional and unpredictable. But if you get to build it alongside people who genuinely care about making a difference, even the hardest days remind you why you started in the first place. I'm looking forward to sharing more about what we've been working towards very soon.
