AI won't fix a broken workflow. It will accelerate it. That sounds simple. The implications aren't. Before you bring AI anywhere near your operations, you have to do the harder work first: asking what the workflow is actually trying to do, what the customer really needs, and what needs to be rebuilt from scratch. That conversation is more difficult than any technology decision you'll make. I got into this and a lot more with former Humana CIO Sam Deshpande on the Techfluential podcast from The Wall Street Journal and Deloitte. We also talked about clock speed. In every previous technology wave, you built your infrastructure stack and left it alone for two, three years. That's gone. Now you're swapping out models constantly, and the underlying infrastructure is always moving. Most organizations are still treating AI like a deployment. It's not. It's a practice.
