Denver Health expertise is making an impact around the world. 🌎💙 Michelle Metz, RN, program coordinator for Denver Health’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) unit, recently traveled to Brazil to teach trauma-informed forensic photography at an international forensic nursing and medicine conference. For more than two decades, the SANE team has supported thousands of sexual assault survivors during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Denver CARES is accepting donations to help restock essential clothing items for those in our care. 💙 The program provides short-term withdrawal management and residential treatment for people living with substance use disorder in Denver. Many people receiving care are also experiencing homelessness and often arrive with few or no personal belongings. Denver Health is proud to partner with Adams County Fire Rescue to bring whole blood directly to patients with critical injuries before they arrive at the hospital. Select Adams County Fire Rescue emergency vehicles will carry low-titer O whole blood provided by Denver Health in specially designed portable refrigeration systems. This allows paramedics to begin lifesaving blood transfusions for patients experiencing severe blood loss in the field, when every minute matters. 💙
