What’s summer without a little bit of grilling? 🍔 To us, a classic burger is the ultimate symbol of summer. That backyard barbecue spirit is exactly what we love bringing to the school cafeteria. As they are always a crowd-pleaser, our teams take a lot of pride in serving up these high-quality favorites. It's a simple, comforting meal that brings a lot of energy and excitement to our students' day!

It’s Fresh Fruit Friday! 🍑 Prioritizing peak-season fruits is one of the simplest ways to support local farm communities while delivering meaningful health benefits. Beyond their vibrant taste and color, peaches are an excellent addition to a well-balanced tray, providing natural hydration support and rich concentrations of Vitamin A and C. Serve them sliced, blend into a smoothie, or top onto a salad for a fun summer recipe!

We can’t thank our partnering districts enough for their stewardship to ensuring kids have access to quality nutrition year-round. Operating these free summer meal distributions for kids 18 and under is one of the many rewarding parts of our mission. Our team at Rio Rancho Public Schools have been making strides at their sites. While making a fantastic impact all summer long, they also bring fresh food, happy staff, and bright smiles to every meal served. To every partner district behind these summer programs: thank you for showing up, all summer, for these kids. 💚

Our partnership with Hays CISD, perfectly captures what we are looking forward to this upcoming school year. We're thrilled to bring back our popular interactive food events like Flavor Fest, smoothie bikes, and roving chefs to our partner cafeterias. Nothing is better than putting smiles on students' faces while fueling their academic success!

The Sunshine Bus is on the move again! 🚌 Across Oak Ridge Schools, we've been making pit stops at local libraries, parks, and splash pads to serve free meals to children 18 and under. It is a pleasure to lend a helping hand to Oak Ridge neighborhoods in the midst of summer, and we are so grateful to the fantastic community partners helping us get this initiative off the ground!

A fitting close to the school year! Throughout the final months of the semester, our Farmers Market Tour made stops in Washington and New Mexico, engaging students in meaningful conversations about nutrition, showcasing fresh, seasonal produce, and serving up scratch-made watermelon agua fresca. 🍉 A sincere thank you to our district partners and staff for making each stop a success! We are already looking ahead to next year.

Our investment in student success extends well beyond the cafeteria. We're deliberate about supporting the emerging leaders within the communities we serve, particularly as they take pivotal steps toward higher education. 🎓 Congratulations to Dysart Unified School District 's scholarship recipients of the 2025–26 school year, Shannon and Lydia! These exceptional students made this recognition not just deserved, but inevitable. We wish you the very best in all that lies ahead.

For many parents, the cafeteria is just a place where their children eat. What they often don’t see is the planning and teamwork that goes into every meal we serve, whether it's team members balancing nutrition and taste to accommodate dietary needs or encouraging students to try a new menu item they are unfamiliar with. National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day, which SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence likes to celebrate every October, gives parents the chance to step into our world and see what goes on behind the scenes. Looking back, it is still a clear reminder of why these opportunities to connect and show our process are so valuable.
