About us

UAH’s Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education (CCRE) offers an interdisciplinary approach to defending networks, data, and computer operating systems from adversarial attacks. In addition to providing educational opportunities such as camps and scholarships, the CCRE also engages in cutting-edge research on a wide variety of cybersecurity-related topics, including identity management, supply chain security, intrusion detection, vulnerability analysis, medical device security, and digital forensics. On June 2007, The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) was designated a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Information Assurance Education (IAE) for the academic years 2007-2012 by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). UAH was re-designated for the academic years 2012-2021. In 2014, UAH received the designation of National Center of Academic Excellence/Cyber Defense for the period 2014-2021. UAH’s information security curriculum meets the NSA Committee on National Security Systems standards 4011 and 4012.
