About us

Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP) is a trusted business partner to veterinarians. We co-own practices in partnership with veterinarians, and work relentlessly to grow and manage each practice, while retaining its unique identity and culture. VPP’s family of practices has enjoyed industry-leading growth and profitability improvements. Our team has deep experience in driving sustained, above-average revenue growth, cultivating exceptional practice staff, and overseeing back-office operations, including marketing, finance, accounting and human resources. Veterinarians partner with us because we enable them able to focus on delivering high-quality patient care and fostering lasting relationships with pet owners, while remaining owners in the practices they have committed a lifetime to building.

  • Dr. Helen Stehouwer had a clear philosophy going into her partnership with VPP: great hospitals are built by great people. What she found was a structure that let her act on it. By partnering with VPP in 2024, she was able to reduce her personal risk without giving up control of her Houston hospital. She still has skin in the game. She still leads the culture. And by stepping back from carrying the full weight of ownership alone, she created space for her doctors to step into ownership themselves. "I think by me taking risk off the table, it also provided an opportunity for my other doctors to take on some of the ownership." That kind of leadership, one that lifts others as it grows, is exactly what the profession needs more of. #UnleashYourPotential #VPP #VeterinaryPracticePartners

  • VPP by the Numbers, installment two. (If you missed our first post, we're pulling back the curtain on who we are through the stats that define us.) 214 Associate DVMs have become partners at VPP. Ownership in veterinary medicine is hard to come by. We've made it a priority to change that. These are doctors who chose to invest in the practices they built, and we built a path to make it possible. Numbers don't tell the whole story. But this one? Worth sharing. #UnleashYourPotential #VPP #VeterinaryPracticePartners

  • Heading to AVMA 2026? Come meet the VPP team at our Mix & Mingle, Friday, July 10th from 5 to 7 PM. Connect with our team, meet fellow vet professionals, and kick off the convention the right way. And don't stop there, swing by Booth 634 throughout the show to keep the conversation going.

  • What a summer for our campus team. In May, we connected with veterinary students at three schools: a VBMA talk at University of Arizona, a VBMA talk with Dr. Vitulli at Midwestern University, and a VBMA talk with Dr. Aspros plus a trivia night at Ross University in St. Kitts. Thank you to the students who made each stop special, and to Dr. Vitulli and Dr. Aspros for sharing their time and expertise. If you're lining up externships for the 2026-27 school year, now's the time to reach out. Email us at students@vetpartners.com. We'd love to hear from you. #UnleashYourPotential #VPP #VeterinaryPracticePartners

  • 300 doctor partners. 200 practices. All choosing to stay independent, not just for themselves, but for the future of veterinary medicine. Happy Independence Day. We're proud of this milestone, but even more grateful for the partners who make it mean something every single day.

  • Not every path to practice ownership starts with a business plan. Dr. Jennifer Garmon's started when a senior doctor left and she stepped up to keep Broadway Veterinary Clinic in Bangor, ME running. She and another young grad held things together, cared for the clients, and didn't let the practice slip. What Dr. Garmon describes now isn't just a business arrangement. It's a sense of being genuinely supported by people who see the same vision she does. "Knowing that there are other individuals within the industry that I can reach out to for support lets us take a step back, look at everything as a whole, and keep growing in a forward direction." For early-career veterinarians wondering what ownership could look like, Dr. Garmon's story is a different kind of answer. #VeterinaryPracticePartners #UnleashYourPotential #VPP

  • One of our favorite traditions: ending Partnership Training with something a little different. Our 3rd cohort wrapped up six months together with a hands-on cooking class, and it was one of those evenings that reminds you why building community matters just as much as building skills. Watching these relationships grow over the past six months has been incredible. So proud of this group. #VeterinaryPracticePartners #UnleashYourPotential #VPP

  • New-graduate veterinarians often leave school with strong knowledge but limited hands-on experience. The volume just isn't always there in a clinical rotation. This September, VPP is partnering with Amici Cannis in Cotacachi, Ecuador to help change that. Early-career vets in our Surgical Skills Enhancement Program will complete 40 supervised surgeries over the course of a week — rotating through emergency, dental, and trauma cases that rarely show up in a typical US practice setting. The goal is simple: send veterinarians home with sharper skills, greater confidence, and a renewed sense of why they chose this field. Registration for this year's cohort is full, but we're excited to share more as the program gets underway in September. #UnleashYourPotential #VPP #VeterinaryPracticePartners
