Most climate risk assessments are scoping too narrowly — and the gaps are starting to show up in mandatory filings. Australia just completed its first round of climate-related financial disclosures. Linda Bleakley (ex Romanovska), co-author of the EU's sustainability reporting standards, has already seen the patterns: companies assessing five hazards or fewer, time horizons defined so tightly that physical climate risk barely registers, and critical supply chain exposure left out of scope entirely. Her framing on what good disclosure actually looks like: "What the users of this information really care about is not that you don't have risks, but that if you have risks, you are aware of them, you know how to manage them, and you're doing a good job of maintaining your resilience."
