Brad Thomas shared thisExcited to be partnering with the CIBT & Newland Chase leadership team Steven Diehl, Daniela Lima, Ray Rackham, and Leslie Cahill on an executive search for their Founding U.S. Immigration Practice Lead Attorney. This is a rare one: a chance to build a U.S. law practice from a blank page, inside a globally recognized firm. Arizona's Alternative Business Structure makes it possible for CIBT, a global immigration leader, to own and run a U.S. law practice in-house. They're standing it up from scratch and looking for the founding attorney to build it with them. And this is not a cold start: → A dedicated Houston operations and paralegal team, already in place → A commercial engine bringing warm client leads to you → The full weight of a global platform behind you: 30+ years operating, 190+ countries covered, F500-tier multinational clients The practice is yours to lead. Founding counsel and the U.S. face of the brand, with real ownership of growth, CEO partnership, and board-level visibility. There's no single right résumé. We're talking with builders at every stage: → The rising associate ready to leap ahead of the traditional track → The senior associate or counsel who wants the founding seat over the partner queue → The partner ready to own outcomes, not defend a book → The founder who's done it before and wants to do it again, with a global brand, warm clients, and capital behind them Reach out if you or someone you know may be a good fit. 📍 Phoenix, AZ (on-site, relocation supported) · Arizona bar admission or admission on motion.

Brad Thomas shared thisIf you would have asked me the question "where will Chamberlain be by 2026" when we founded Chamberlain Advisors in 2016; I'm highly confident "our firm will be on a billboard" would not have made my list. If 2026 is the billboard, I’m calling it now for 2036: The Chamberlain-Sampson Dome - future home of the Chicago Bears in Arlington Heights! Seth Deutsch & Jordan McMillian - I'm so excited to be a key part of the Sampson team and look forward to helping execute on your vision.

Brad Thomas shared thisI discussed this with Adam Coffey on his Podcast last week: The data shows that 70% of the best talent is 'passive'—they are "A-Players" currently winning at another company and never look at job boards. Brad Smarts research suggests one "A-Player" is worth three "C-Players." If an "A-player" costs 20% more but delivers 300% more output (or protects against the downside risks). A McKinsey study is even higher: for high-complexity roles like strategy, and senior leadership: a "High Performer" is 800% more productive than an average performer. What that means: Hiring two "average" VPs (2 x $150k = $300k) is actually more expensive and less effective than hiring one "Superstar" at $250k. So my question is: When you are scaling an Empire, how do you justify the risk of only seeing 30% of the market (the active seekers) versus paying a fee to see the 70% who are actually driving results for your competitors?Brad Thomas shared thisMost companies still hire using “Post and Pray.” They throw up a job ad…. Cross their fingers… And hope the right person magically appears. That’s not recruiting. That’s gambling. I was talking with my friend Brad Thomas from Chamberlain Advisors, and he nailed it with a simple visual: Think of talent like an iceberg. 🧊 30% is above the waterline The unemployed. The unhappy. The ones actively looking. 🧊 70% is below the waterline The best performers. Fully employed. Highly valued. Not looking. Never seeing your job post. If you “post and pray,” you only attract the 30%. Great recruiters go hunting in the 70%—the talent hiding below the surface. If you want to build a real empire, A-players don’t apply. They’re recruited. This is the kind of real-world insight we unpack inside Empire Builder Academy— how to scale, how to hire, how to lead, and how to win at the game most entrepreneurs are unknowingly playing wrong. 🎙️ Empire Builder Podcast, an extension of the Empire Builder Academy is Coming Soon... #recruiting #onlinelearning #privateequity #talentsearch

Brad Thomas reposted thisLaw firms and PE: Most are talking about MSOs. We're talking about MOIC. I started my career in professional services at AECOM, and a number of our Partners have their origins in the AEC space as well. I often write about the similarities across professional services buy and builds - AEC, Accounting, Legal and others. The trends are the same ... see the article below, as evidence. Every Partners on the team as Samson has had exits with Private Equity as a CEO, COO, or Board Chair. The largest business I ran - $2BN in revenue, 10,000 employees, 80 countries. Stuart Mason and our team developed one of the first automated basis of design technologies for the industrial market.. Everyone is talking about closing deals in the legal sector ... we've already done that, and we still facilitate deals ... but a large part of our focus is driving returns. Remember, the work BEGINS on the day of the close. I had a long meeting this evening with Matt Schachman, the founder of Chamberlain Advisors, and a Partner at Samson. We would discussing the human capital stack that we need to be prepared to deploy in legal roll ups ... four critical roles will surface, and we're building a virtual bench of PE and legal sector ready executives to serve in full time, interim, and operating partner roles: 1. CTOs who will be responsible for IT stacks and AI transformation across acquired businesses 2. CFOs who have institutional PE experience in professional services environments, but who also come from law firm adjacent sectors, and can implement financial transformations and drive change in technical professional services environments. The will also need treasury management and strong FP&A experience. 3. COO and Integrators who can drive change management, process optimization, and manage complexity while driving work process simplification across a holding company structure Those are just a few of the roles that will emerge as PE moves into the space. Everyone is talking about deal structures ... folks we're beyond that. Remember this, from Richard Lappin, the first ever operating partner at Blackstone: “It is in the due diligence process that we may come to understand the value opportunity. It is during the ownership phase that value creation occurs. Much of the value stems from the inherent characteristics of the business we have acquired - market growth and attractiveness, competitive intensity, and the company's ability to compete. But creative, astute, and aggressive management can significantly enhance both top and bottom-line performance. Strong management can create a major upswing in historical performance patterns by outstrategizing competitors and by implementing strategies more effectively.” At Samson, we start with founders when they are contemplating a transaction, but we often stay with them, and their PE sponsors, all the way to the next sale. Our job is not done until our clients, and their partners, achieve a 3-5X MOIC on the next sale.

Brad Thomas shared thisBig thank you to Illinois Joining Forces for putting on a great Veterans Day event at the Union League Club of Chicago. We were treated to a keynote with retired United States Army General Stan McChrystal discussing current affairs, and his new book On Character which Stan explores how character, shaped through daily choices rather than inherited traits, defines who we truly become and guides personal growth. The Character Formula: Character = Convictions X Discipline - Convictions are the deep, pressure-tested beliefs earned through reflection and experience. - Discipline is the consistent ability to act in accordance with those convictions. Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) Vision - Make Illinois the most welcoming and supportive state in the Nation for all service members, Veterans, and their families (SMVF) – a place where SMVF find growth, wellness, and community. Mission - Bring together public, private, and government stakeholders to collaboratively support SMVF – to include caregivers and survivors – regardless of status.

Brad Thomas liked thisBrad Thomas liked this***Announcement*** I was the sole owner of Richard Group for nearly 12 years. Starting from my basement in Northfield, IL, in 2014, we grew into a nationally recognized general contractor serving our wonderful customers. Our company believes in the power of our people and embraces our Core Purpose: “To empower people and organizations to create lasting impact.” This is why our company exists, and it takes the whole team working together. My proudest announcement to date is that Richard is now employee-owned. The main reason for my decision is that part of my legacy is helping hundreds, and hopefully, thousands of families live the American Dream of ownership and make an impact that can change generations within their communities and beyond. (Employee-owned company teammates retire with 2.5x more than non-employee-owned) It is the truest test of business leadership - it's a choice to say it's not about me. We are now the ultimate team in my eyes. Now it's about growth together. We get to decide the level of impact we bring to our construction world, and we are elated for the next chapter. Keep going…🦬🦬 #employeeowned #team #culture #impact #construction #ESOP #extremeownership #PurposeBuilders

Brad Thomas liked thisBrad Thomas liked thisWe're proud to share that Richard has been named to Crain's Chicago Business Fast 50 for the fifth year, ranking #27 on the 2026 list. 🏆 This year, we were also the only architecture, engineering, and construction firm to make it. The Fast 50 celebrates companies driving growth, innovation, and job creation across Chicagoland. Twelve years in, the growth still surprises us. What doesn't surprise us is what's behind it: our people, our partners, and the purpose we've built on since 2014. In 2025, we welcomed 82 new team members, gave $263,000 back to our communities, and logged 1,150 volunteer hours. That's the part of the story the ranking doesn't show. Most importantly, this one belongs to the herd. Thank you to every Purpose Builder who shows up, lifts each other up, and builds the momentum behind every milestone. Here's to building what's next. 🦬 🔗 Read the full announcement in the comments! #TheRichardPressRoom

Brad Thomas liked thisBrad Thomas liked thisComing home today from Richard’s 4th Annual Emerging Leaders Summit, and I keep coming back to the question Jed posed on LinkedIn before we left: “Who has your back when the waves are over your boat?” After the last two days, this group answered that question again and again. They had each other’s backs while white water rafting through the Colorado River. While hiking in the Grand Canyon with intensity and care. While climbing and navigating a ropes course to reach a waterfall. While cheering each other on as we rock jumped into the river. While facing fears of heights as we flew out of the canyon by helicopter. And while closing the trip with a team dinner full of gratitude, & camaraderie. And just as importantly, they had each other’s backs in the quieter moments too: offering a hand, giving encouragement, making space for laughter, sharing water and shade, listening well, and showing up for one another in ways both big and small. And to the South Kaibab hike crew, I’ll never forget those five miles together. I’m proud of us for the way we pushed, paced, encouraged, checked in, and finished together. We also began the summit with a working session focused on reimagining our Bison Buddy and Mentorship programs, because leadership is not only built in the big adventure moments. It is also built in how we welcome people, invest in them, and help them grow. This group brought the grit to do hard things, the gratitude to appreciate the journey, and the greatness that comes from choosing to lead together. Doing hard things together is healthy. Experiencing joy together is healthy. And when the waves are over your boat, I hope everyone gets to have a crew like this one behind them. 🦬 #Richard #EmergingLeaders #HardIsHealthy #GritGratitudeGreatness #Leadership #BuildWithPurposeLiveWithPassion Natasha V. US staffing hours were relatively stable in the week ended Jan. 24 compared to the same week a year ago, according to the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator - February 3, 2026 report. Commercial staffing hours were flat year over year, while professional staffing hours were down 2%. However, staffing hours slipped from the previous week this year. “On a sequential, week-on-week basis, hours dropped slightly, impacted by the MLK Day-related business closures. However, the week-on-week trends of the prior two weeks were typical of the post-holiday seasonal ramp we have observed over the past five years,” according to the report.
