During Volunteer Appreciation Week, I was honored to be recognized by ARMA International as part of the Volunteers in Action initiative. I am grateful to contribute in small ways to the education, certification, and standards that support information governance professionals across our industry. Cheryl has spent years contributing to ARMA’s education and standards, from certification oversight to drafting key resources that guide information governance professionals worldwide. Her work helps ensure that ARMA’s educational offerings remain relevant, practical, and impactful for professionals at every stage of their career. “Through volunteering, I have expanded my network, developed new skills, and helped support others across the profession. Volunteering with ARMA has had a meaningful impact on my professional growth and on how I contribute to the Records and Information Governance community. Through chapter leadership, committee service, and speaking engagements, I’ve expanded a diverse network, strengthened my leadership and communication skills, and stayed closely connected to emerging trends and shared challenges across the profession. These experiences allow me to translate real‑world insights into practical, actionable guidance—supporting stronger governance outcomes within my organization and advancing the profession as a whole. Cheryl Strom, MBA, IGP, CIGO posted thisAs we prepare to celebrate April as National Records & Information Management (RIM) Month, I wanted to take a moment to share a personal milestone. I have successfully re-certified my Information Governance Professional (IGP) and Certified Information Governance Officer (CIGO) certifications. These certifications represent more than letters after my name—they reflect a continued commitment to deepening my knowledge, staying current in a rapidly evolving landscape, and applying best practices across the Records & Information Management (RIM) and Information Governance (IG) disciplines. Both the IGP and CIGO certifications have strengthened my ability to: Drive practical, defensible information governance strategies, Bridge Legal, IT, Data Governance, and business objectives, Mitigate risk while enabling business value, and Add meaningful, enterprise-level impact to the industries and organizations I serve. Continuous learning is critical in these fields, and RIM Month is a great reminder of the value that effective information governance brings to organizations every day. I am grateful for the opportunity to keep growing, contributing, and advancing my profession and provide value to my organization and the IG industry.

Answer - consistency I've worked with many leaders throughout my career, and one trait that repeatedly stood out among those I most respected and trusted was consistency. We always knew what we were going to get. Not because they were predictable, but because they were consistent in their values, expectations, and behavior. They consistently: - Followed through on commitments - Addressed issues directly and respectfully - Showed up during successful and challenging times - Applied the same standards to everyone, including themselves We don't need perfect leaders. We need leaders we can trust, and trust isn't built through monthly team meetings or outings. It's built with consistent actions in meeting after meeting, decision after decision, and interaction after interaction. In an environment where priorities, markets, and technologies constantly change, consistency becomes an anchor. It creates clarity, psychological safety, confidence, and trust. #Leadership #Trust #Culture #Teamwork #ProfessionalGrowth

I could not be more excited to step into this leadership role at the current time in the Legal Technology market. There is a new disruption around every corner, and I am loving the energy in the sector. I want to thank everyone who has believed in me, even when I struggled to believe in myself; everyone who has lent an understanding ear; shared a morsel of hard earned wisdom; or just generally made the Legal Data Intelligence field a better place to work. I could not ask for a better group of friends and colleagues. There are far too many of you to @ mention here, I truly hope I've done a good job expressing my gratitude to each of you. if I haven't - I will certainly try to rectify that! So here's to the next adventure, I'm looking forward to continuing the journey in Legal Data Intelligence, Legal Operations, eDiscovery, or however you identify in the field. For decades, this work has been a hallmark of McDonald’s leadership as a responsible global brand. I’m proud to be entrusted with bringing these three areas of work together under one team as we continue to drive progress and meaningful impact across our people, our planet, and the markets and communities we serve. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead and continuing to build McDonald’s legacy with such incredibly talented and passionate teams and partners across our System.

Cheryl Strom, MBA, IGP, CIGO liked thisAfter 42 years, I’ve made the decision to retire from McDonald's and close out an incredible chapter of my career. What started as a crew member in Kingsport, TN, turned into a journey far beyond anything I could have imagined. I feel blessed for the opportunities I’ve been given and the experiences along the way. I’ve been fortunate to grow across operations, learning and development, and human resources, ultimately serving as the Lead for the U.S. Field HR Team. Throughout it all, I’ve learned our success is grounded in the strength of our people and the power of our system. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the very best: owner/operators and their restaurant teams, corporate staff, and supplier partners. The strength of McDonald’s has always been our three-legged stool, and I’m grateful to have been part of a system where that partnership drives results, builds communities, and creates opportunity. I’m especially proud of the role I’ve played in developing talent and watching others grow and succeed across the system. On a personal note, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my family. My wife Glenna and our son Justin have been with me every step of the way. Their love and support have meant everything, and I’m truly blessed to begin this next chapter with more time together. To my colleagues, mentors, and friends, thank you. I’m deeply grateful for your partnership, trust, and friendship over the years. I leave with a full heart, grateful for what we’ve accomplished together and blessed to have been part of something so special. I’ll always be cheering on this incredible system and the people who bring it to life every day. Here’s to the next chapter.
