The start of summer is always a great opportunity to reset and recalibrate. I’m incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished in the first half of the year, and even more grateful for the people behind it. Enjoying some barbecue never hurts, either. At our People Week rally with soccer legend Abby Wambach, my friend Adam Lenkowsky said it best: “BMS doesn’t stand for ‘By Myself.’” Never has. Never will. #BMS_Employee

After 12+ years in frontend, I’m seeing a shift I didn’t expect: Writing code is no longer the hardest part of our job. Because now… AI can do a lot of it. And that changes everything. We used to measure skill by: how well we write components how deeply we understand frameworks how clean our code is But today? That’s just the baseline. The real shift is this: We’re moving from builders → to decision makers. From: “I can build this UI” To: “Is this the right architecture, performance strategy, and user experience?” Frameworks are getting smarter. AI is getting faster. And the browser is doing less work than ever before. Which is powerful… But it also raises an important question: If AI can write most of the code… what makes us valuable? I don’t think the answer is “learn more tools.” I think it’s this: Understanding systems Thinking in performance Designing better user experiences Asking better questions than the AI This shift is exciting. And yes—slightly uncomfortable. Because it pushes us to grow beyond what made us successful before.
