Since 1921, the University of Florida Hall of Fame has recognized seniors and graduate students who have consistently demonstrated an outstanding commitment to improving the University of Florida through campus and community involvement, participation in organized campus activities, and scholastic achievement. It is one of the most prestigious honors awarded to students by the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Florida.

Created by Dr. Art Sandeen, the J. Wayne Reitz Scholars Program was established to recognize and encourage academic achievement, leadership, and service among undergraduate students at the University of Florida. Created by Dr. Art Sandeen, the J. Wayne Reitz Scholars Program was established to recognize and encourage academic achievement, leadership, and service among undergraduate students at the University of Florida. The program is named in honor of Dr. J. Wayne Reitz, who served as President of the University of Florida from 1955-67. Since 1997, approximately 25 students are selected by a faculty-staff committee to be "Reitz Scholars" each year. Emphasis is placed on identifying students from a broad spectrum of university life, including academic, political, religious, recreational, and service organizations. Students selected to be "Reitz Scholars" receive educational enhancements, including a faculty-staff mentor and an intentional leadership program that requires extensive participation.

The Reitz Scholars are expected to maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average in all of their academic work at the University while pursuing a degree program on a full-time basis. They are expected to volunteer their time in service to the campus and community and to be active leaders in student organizations at UF. Finally, all Reitz Scholars are expected to be outstanding citizens of the University of Florida community who will conduct their lives with integrity and honor. Florida Blue Key equips the next generation of leaders in the state through leadership opportunities in college such as the Florida Blue Key Speech and Debate Tournament – one of the largest and most prestigious high school debate tournaments in the country – and Florida Blue Key forums or debates for Florida’s Governor, U.S. Senate seats, or other elected officials, sometimes broadcast across the state. Additionally, Florida Blue Key and the Florida Blue Key Alumni Society coordinates Gator Legislative Day, furthering the interests of the University of Florida and higher education in the state through advocacy efforts with state lawmakers and the Governor’s office. Freshman Leadership Council (FLC) recognizes first-year students at the University of Florida seeking to make major accomplishment both on campus and in the community. Each school year, roughly 50 freshmen are selected to be a part of this prestigious organization where they engage in leadership activities, hear from notable guest speakers, host numerous events on campus and network with established campus leaders.
