Not just the ability to deal with rejection, but the ability to face all kinds of adversity and keep going. Your role may shift. The company may change. A client relationship may turn unexpectedly. Still, they stay grounded and look for opportunity in the chaos. They ask better questions. How can I make a bad ball good? Who can help me think through this? What's the next move? Leading vs lagging indicators. This is an important concept to make better scorecards. What's a Scorecard? It's 5-15 numbers tracked on a weekly basis to get a pulse on how the business is doing. A great scorecard reviewed weekly helps a team know where they're on and off-track on their business, and diagnose issues that need to be resolved to stay on track. The best scorecards have a mix of leading and lagging indicators: 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 - Activities that will result in desired outcomes later. 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 - Results from a series of activities in a business The simplest example is sales measurables, listed from leading to lagging: • New leads • Sales meetings held • Proposals sent • New clients signed • Revenue All of these measurables are important and measuring a mix of leading - e.g. New Leads, and lagging - e.g. Revenue, gives us a fast picture of our weekly results. A great scorecard is something I coach all my clients to build and use weekly - it's essential for all businesses. • ** PS - Want to learn more?
