Joe Colonna shared thisPassing of Bill McFaul It is with saddnes but an appreciation for a life well lived and the permission of his wife, Philly, that I share the news that William (Bill) McFaul passed away yesterday morning. Bill McFaul was a a pioneer and a force in the field of healthcare Non-Labor cost management. His leadership lead the change of the profession from “Materials Management” to “Supply Chain Professionals”. Bill proved that Supply Chain had a role not only in cost management for healthcare providers but also played a significant role in supporting the mission to provide high quality care to the communities they serve. Bill’s conributions to industry are too many to list here but include, leading the creation of a highly successful company with a focus on non-labor,expense management and work force effencies, he also created a suite of workforce development tools focused on developing leaders in supply chain roles. Beyond his personal success, Bill also spent his life mentoring future generations of leaders in many proffesions. I have personal expericance, because I am a product of Bill’s mentoring, encorugagement and sometimes tough love. I also love and count Bill, Philly and thier family as mine as well. Bill, Philly and clan brought me fully into thier very special, unique and loving family. So, this is both a personal and professional loss for me. I know that many of us who know Bill and Philly, feel the same, because they offered open hearts, and a seat at thier very large and well stocked dinner table to so many of us. Please keep Philly and the McFaul family in your thoughts. I have added information on the services, to this post. Joe Colonna posted thisAs an executive leader, who happens to be white, middle aged and over 30 years of experience in my filed, I think it is important to make time to talk with future leaders, at whatever point they may be in their careers. I think it is imporant to talk about their goals and challenges to meeting those goals. I think this is especially true of future leaders of color and/or members of the LGBTQ community. Not out of a sense of guilt or obligation but out of a sense of appreciation and respect for the courage it takes to ask for that help.

But this is exactly what happened to Adrienne, a Hello Heart member and Piedmont employee. She was sitting on her couch at home after a long day when she started sweating and feeling dizzy, and her hands went numb. At the hospital, a cardiac enzyme test confirmed she'd had a heart-related event. “Even though I was healthy, I learned that heart health isn’t always visible,” she says. Now, she’s become an advocate for awareness, especially among women. Her message is simple: heart disease doesn’t always look the way you expect.
