I’ve been thinking a lot about how we defend against phishing. The advent of Generative AI has enabled even more effective phishing attacks. I want our phishing scenarios not to be a one-off test, but, an ongoing relevant set of scenarios enabling our customers to test their mitigating and compensating security controls against the latest threats! We all know phishing is the number one way adversaries get in. But defenses aren’t static, and neither are attackers. What worked six months ago won’t necessarily work today — because the techniques, messaging, and tools being used have changed. Yet too often, phishing tests are created once and left to age on the shelf, never updated to reflect the latest trends we’re seeing in the wild. That’s why I’m really excited about the work we just published on evergreening phishing defense scenarios. Instead of treating phishing tests as a point-in-time checklist, we now have a way to continuously update those scenarios based on evolving attacker behavior. This isn’t just about adding new templates — it’s about making sure the tests we run actually reflect what attackers are doing right now, not last quarter or last year! By building phishing tests that adapt with the threat landscape, defenders can: • Measure their people and their tools against relevant, current phishing attacks including social engineering tactics • Reduce the gap between what we think attackers do and what they actually do • Build confidence that when a real phishing email arrives, detection and response are grounded in up-to-date context This effort is a great example of how research and real-world telemetry should directly shape the way we validate defenses — not just write about them. This innovate work by the Adversary Research Team keeps scenarios fresh, and the payoff is clear: better visibility, better detection, and a workforce that sees threats that actually matter.
