My VP of Growth client built an experimentation framework for his growth team and assumed that was the hard part. But six weeks later, only a handful of people on his team were using it. inconsistently. if they remembered. after he reminded them. He came to our call genuinely confused about what was going on. He'd been poking at the process trying to find the leak. He asked me to give input on his meeting structure and his template. Asking if he was missing a step somewhere. His approach looked good. But I saw a different challenge. "How many times have you explained to your team why this matters?" He thought about it. Maybe twice. Once in a team meeting. Another reminder after the meeting in Slack. It was clear he had a marketing problem (not a process problem). And his audience was his own team. In my experience it takes 6 or 7 reps before a new behavior actually sticks. Not just head nods in a meeting, but people doing it without you reminding. The classic rule of 7. Most leaders completely underestimate how powerful repetition is.
