It can take as long as 6 months to close a lending software deal. Or as little as 5 days. Sometimes this happens because of the size of the operation. Enterprise deals naturally take longer because you have more humans involved, board approvals, procurement processes, all of that. But a lot of times, especially with smaller lenders, the reason deals drag isn't about company size or decision making. It's because they don't have everything they need before they can actually start with digital lending. And now that regulations are tightening across markets we have to be even more careful about who we can serve immediately and who needs to sort things out first. What I mean is lenders come to us ready to go digital, excited to launch, and then as we start talking through setup we realize they're missing key pieces. They don't have their lending licenses approved yet.  Or their regulatory documentation isn't complete.  Or they're planning to launch but don't have capital lined up to disburse.  Or they haven't set up payment infrastructure or connected to credit bureaus.  Or they haven't thought through their risk framework so they don't know what criteria to use for approvals. And I'm not saying this to call anyone out because honestly most lenders just don't know where to start. Digital lending has so many moving pieces and it's not always obvious what needs to happen first. That's actually part of what we do at Lendsqr, we help lenders figure out what they need to have in place before they can launch. We walk them through the checklist of licenses, infrastructure setup, all of it. But we can't offer full services to someone who doesn't have the foundation to actually use the software. If you don't have your licenses sorted, we can build you the best platform, but you can't legally operate.  If you don't have capital, we can automate everything, but you have nothing to disburse.  If you haven't set up your risk framework, we can give you a decisioning engine, but you won't know what criteria to use. So when deals take 4 or 5 or 6 months, it's usually because we're waiting on these pieces to fall into place. And again that's not a bad thing, it just means there's work that needs to happen outside of what we can control. We can speed up the tech part, we can guide them through what they need, but we can't get their licenses approved faster. The lenders who close fast come with most of this handled. Most lenders don’t struggle with having technology. They struggle with how it works together. A timely and important topic, especially with half our industry headed to ICE this week. POS feeds into LOS. Third-party vendors connect to LOS. Teams log into multiple systems. Data gets checked in multiple places. When systems operate in silos, teams compensate with manual validation. That’s where cost per loan quietly increases. A unified data layer changes the dynamic. When document data is extracted, validated, and written back consistently to the system of record, and when workflows are synchronized instead of fragmented, rework drops. Interoperability is not about having APIs. It’s about maintaining synchronized state across systems so teams aren’t reconciling differences all day.
