Arizona College of Nursing is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and transformational leader to serve as our Associate Vice President of Curriculum & Learning. This executive role is ideal for a systems thinker with an enterprise mindset who excels at leading change, building strong cross-functional partnerships, and translating vision into execution.

As a key member of the Academic Affairs leadership team, you will lead curriculum strategy, instructional design, and experiential learning while driving continuous improvement, academic excellence, and student success across our growing institution. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder who anticipates downstream impacts, makes thoughtful decisions, balances innovation with execution, and brings people together to achieve shared goals across Academic Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Academic Success, and Campus Operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Lead Strategic Efforts to Deliver Academic and Program Outcomes

  • Develop and maintain an annual strategic plan for curriculum and learning.
  • Provide strategic direction and thought leadership to academic, educational, and programmatic endeavors, including improvement and maintaining accreditation.
  • Ensure compliance of academic programs with accreditation and regulatory requirements including maintaining records and providing requested reports.
  • Provide academic leadership and oversight of the BSN curriculum, educational technologies, and experiential learning.
  • Consistently review and revise curriculum and procedures to support the advancement of inclusion, equity, and diversity at the College.


Guide Curriculum Development and Course Design

  • Guide the strategic development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of program curriculum.
  • Champion and promote a best-in-class student learning experience including the integration of educational technology and experiential learning into curriculum and courses and effective use of course resources (textbooks, learning objects, ATI resources, etc.).
  • Oversee mapping of curriculum/content to required standards and outcomes (AACN BSN Essentials, ANA Scope and Standards of practice, NCLEX test plan, etc.).
  • Support the course design team to develop courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) and improve course/curricular based on course evaluation and course quality data.


Integrate Quality Experiential Learning throughout the Program

  • Ensure simulation-based education activities facilitate the development of critical thinking and clinical judgement.
  • Develop and support the implementation of standardized processes for laboratory, clinical, and simulation experiences to ensure quality instruction, consistency in student learning experience, remediation, and evaluation of learning outcomes.
  • Ensure ongoing education sessions are held on simulation design, facilitation, and evaluation.
  • Oversee vendors and cost effectiveness of pedagogically sound materials for instruction.


Regulation and Accreditation

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards related to academic endeavors in areas of oversight.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Vice President, Assessment and Development, manages CCNE accreditation Standard III (Program quality Curriculum and teaching-learning practices).

Must have

  • A doctorate degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in nursing and a doctorate in a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing education, inclusive of curriculum development, systematic program evaluation, simulation, and academic affairs or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Holds a current unencumbered registered nurse license.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision and strategy into actions and results.
  • Skilled in initiating and building valued relationships externally with stakeholders and internally with leaders across a complex, highly matrixed organization.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Educational technology experience and knowledge.


Nice to have

  • Proven track record in BSN-level education.


Base annual salary range of $145,000-$160,000 USD commensurate with education, experience, and relatable skills.
