We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. This role will be instrumental in leading the financial operations of our company, including oversight of budgeting, forecasting, audits, and internal control structures. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history in the construction industry, be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and exhibit a deep understanding of accounting and finance principles.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Controller, you will:

1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
3. Manage cash flow and forecasting, and direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
4. Coordinate and prepare annual budgets and monthly financial statements, while also providing financial analysis and offering expert financial perspective and opinions.
5. Implement financial management systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
6. Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.
7. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
8. Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
9. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies across all aspects of the business.
10. Leverage knowledge of the construction industry to interpret and analyze contractual terms related to various projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA would be highly desirable.
2. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, with a proven record of success in financial control and management.
4. Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
5. Experience in partnering with an executive team with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
6. High proficiency in financial reporting including budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelling.
7. Strong knowledge of construction accounting and experience in the construction industry.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey financial information and concepts to non-financial managers.
9. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
10. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft Dynamics SL or similar financial reporting software.
11. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
