A growing alternative investment manager is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and reporting function for a portfolio of private investment vehicles. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will own the month-end close, financial reporting, audit coordination, investor reporting, and fund operations while helping build scalable finance processes within a high-growth platform.
This is a highly autonomous opportunity with direct exposure to senior leadership, complex structured investments, and significant long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting
Lead the monthly and quarterly close process across multiple investment vehicles.
Review NAV calculations, capital accounts, investor allocations, and financial reporting prepared by third-party administrators.
Calculate management fees, carried interest, and complex waterfall allocations.
Prepare investor reporting and financial reporting packages.
Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Portfolio & Investment Accounting
Record investment activity across a variety of structured credit and specialty finance investments.
Account for loan purchases, asset acquisitions, principal and interest activity, reserves, and investment performance.
Reconcile loan-level reporting received from servicers and administrators.
Maintain accounting records for structured financing vehicles.
Regulatory & Compliance
Support regulatory filings and compliance reporting.
Coordinate with external compliance advisors.
Ensure accounting policies remain compliant with U.S. GAAP.
Process Improvement
Build scalable accounting processes and internal controls.
Improve reporting efficiency through automation and technology.
Partner with senior leadership on strategic finance initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA preferred.
5–12 years of accounting or fund finance experience.
Experience within private credit, structured finance, CLOs, asset-backed lending, or specialty finance preferred.
Strong understanding of investment company accounting under U.S. GAAP.
Experience working with fund administrators.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment.
