Base pay range

$130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr
Position Summary

The Director of Hospital Contracting & Relationships is responsible for developing, negotiating, and managing Solis Health Plans' strategic hospital partnerships. This position serves as the executive liaison to contracted hospitals, leads all hospital contracting activities, facilitates Joint Operating Committees (JOCs), and ensures contractual relationships support organizational objectives related to quality, access, operational performance, and financial stewardship.

The Director works collaboratively with the Director of Payment Integrity, who provides financial analysis, payment integrity oversight, reimbursement validation, and contract performance reporting. Together, these roles create a balanced approach that combines data-driven decision making with executive relationship management.

This position is fully onsite, Monday – Friday.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Hospital Contracting & Negotiations

  • Lead negotiations for new, renewed, and amended hospital agreements.
  • Develop contracting strategies aligned with organizational growth and financial objectives.
  • Coordinate contract renewals, amendments, and implementation.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Network Development, Operations, and Executive Leadership during negotiations.
  • Recommend reimbursement and value-based contracting strategies.

Hospital Relationship Management

  • Serve as the executive relationship manager for contracted hospitals.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with hospital executives.
  • Resolve escalated operational issues collaboratively.
  • Represent Solis during executive meetings and strategic initiatives.

Joint Operating Committees (JOCs) & Governance

  • Establish and chair recurring Joint Operating Committees.
  • Develop structured agendas and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate participation across Finance, Clinical, IT, Compliance, Operations, and Provider Network.
  • Track action items and ensure accountability.

Hospital Performance Oversight

  • Monitor operational, quality, utilization, and service performance.
  • Partner with the Director of Payment Integrity to review financial performance and reimbursement trends.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and contract optimization.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate enterprise initiatives involving hospital partners.
  • Support new market expansion and hospital onboarding.
  • Ensure operational alignment following contract execution.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

May supervise Contract Managers, Provider Relations staff, or Hospital Relationship Managers as the function expands. Provides leadership, coaching, prioritization, and performance oversight.

Qualifications And Education

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in managed care, provider contracting, hospital administration, or network management.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex hospital agreements.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare Advantage reimbursement methodologies.
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MHA, JD, or related advanced degree.
  • Experience with value-based reimbursement models.
  • Experience facilitating executive governance committees or JOCs.
  • Working knowledge of payment integrity and healthcare financial analytics.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment and physical demands are consistent with Solis Health Plans' standard Director-level job descriptions. This position requires regular interaction with hospital executives and periodic travel to provider facilities. This position is primarily onsite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, computer use, presentations, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
